I just built a 6mm ARC and I’m fixing to start loading for it. It has an 18” 1-8 twist barrel. Right now I have 90gr Barnes LRX, 90gr Accubonds, 80gr TTSX, and 100gr Speer btsps. I’ve been reading and researching Berger bullets and the 95gr VLD hunting bullet seems to be pretty popular for this cartridge. I’ve never in my life shot a Berger bullet or know anyone who has. Anyone have experience with the Berger VLD hunting bullets?

Excellent bullets. Kiss the lands and you'll be very happy with accuracy.

One note about loading Berger bullets. Due to their shape, you may need a special seating stem for your dies. Seating stems are designed to contact the bullet on the ogive, not the tip. But standard stems may contact on the tip which will result in erratic seating depths.

Anyone have experience with the Berger VLD hunting bullets? You build a gas or bolt gun? I’m kicking around the idea of getting a 6.5 Grendel or 6 ARC in a bolt gun.

Gas. Can’t find a left handed bolt gun locally. Actually it was just a rebarrel of my 6.8spc for now.

Hopefully I’ll be able to try it out on some Axis in a couple weeks. I’m going to test loads with the 90gr AccuBond and the 95gr LRX as soon as it dries up on my range. I’ll keep you updated.

I am a Berger believer. They are different. I have fooled several buddies looking for entrance wounds. All there is to see is a small hole down in the hair if you find it. They will turn the chest cavity to soup on a well placed shot. Just awesome bullets. ( 30-06 168Gr HPBT Hunting VLD ) I think I’m gonna try the 90gr classic hunter and the 105 VLD.

Berger Bullets are the best money can buy. I went through about 1600 last yr and will shoot about 2K this yr.
Don’t overlook the Hornady 108 eldm for a hunting bullet from an 18” 6 arc. It would perform wonderfully on game from that rig.
You're only as good as your worst shot-

I use the 156 EOL bullet in my 6.5prc. Probably the most accurate load I have. For hunting, the bullet performs a lot like a SST. Goes in and then destroys everything. For whitetail, it is perfect!
Hunting brings out the worst in people.

Ive got a pretty good shooting recipe of classic hunters in my 7x57. Haven't shot a deer with them yet, but they shoot almost as tight as Speer boat tails on paper.
You gonna pull them pistols, or whistle Dixie?
