Would have been a terrible opening day anyway. No worries, hopefully better weather when it opens

Be nice to hunt before the green up! I hate reading how the late start didn’t help. The theory seems to work but apparently it did t hold water.

Saw 10-12 in a pasture in Berry yesterday afternoon...bout ran off the road. MrsGomer didn't seem nearly as excited to see them as I was. Something's wrong with her...

You are correct on the season date
From the time I posted this last night we have 6 full days and then to wake up on the 7th day to go hunting

I don’t understand waiting. Come in the 15th go out the last day of April, why mess with it?

It was March 20th for a time as well. It came in March 14th in 2015 because it fell on a Saturday. I'll take hunting in March over hunting in May.

I could live with the old date of March 20th and let it run until end of April for a south zone. I grew up hunting March 20th until April 25th for a long time. It is absolutely insane to have a season that runs 10 days into May in the south. Hens are nesting then and some will even have hatched their clutch by then in my area.

It's dead for me in the last week of April

I support this statement, and I'm in central Alabama.

Never got the logic behind 10 days in May? I've not hunted extreme south or north Alabama though.

The only "logic" behind adding the 10 days in May is so they could say "we didn't take any days away from you"....they know good and damn well that hunting is mostly over by then, even if the season is still technically open.

I killed the dominant bird on our property Saturday morning. Had to shoot him twice the wind was blowing so bad.

So isn’t this the “dominant gobbler” theory guy? And didn’t he just shoot the dominant gobbler in the head? I’m not a huge Turkey hunter but wasn’t this guy the reason for all the changes in the seasons? Someone make it make sense.

Fair question....I just put it in the comments. Let's see if they ignore it or make excuses
