I ended up deciding to get out. Hard copy of the new rules came out yesterday and they were just too crazy for me and I haven’t pulled the trigger on a deer in years so it isn’t about self control on what to shoot. I won’t go into all the rules but one of the craziest ones was, you could only drive as far as the camp house then you had to walk everywhere else. That included ATV’s and golf carts. That’s hard to do on 2,000 acres. Even if you had a deer down, you couldn’t drive to go get it. what they expect you to do quarter it up and put in a backpack. That’s ridiculous. I do know driving 4 wheelers all the time everywhere send out a loud Alarm to every deer within 2 miles. Me and a buddy drive our trucks one year to our stands and to hunt. Our deer sightings went up 10x not shitting you. But on 2000 acres there is no way to walk everywhere. I would have gotten out also👍

Guess that walking rule eliminates elderly members, members with young children wanting to hunt with Dad, and wheelchair bound hunters. Wonder how Gulf States feels about rules that discriminate on their land? good question. Maybe a phone call should be made 😊

Guess that walking rule eliminates elderly members, members with young children wanting to hunt with Dad, and wheelchair bound hunters. Wonder how Gulf States feels about rules that discriminate on their land? Gulf States probably doesn't care. Clubs are private...they can take whoever they want, and not take whoever they don't want. I don't care, as it doesn't affect me at all...I just don't think they're being discriminatory towards the elderly, disabled, or those with children. Probably just know that pressure negatively affects deer hunting, and decided to go way overboard with it. Or, maybe the best hunting at the club is farthest from the parking area, and they're so competitive that you have to "earn" the opportunity to hunt those areas. Not the way I'd want to hunt, but they probably won't have any problems filling the empty spots, either. There are plenty of like-minded folks who eat that crap up.
