This is the biggest gamble in DJT's life . He's playing the tariff game with peoples $ , LOTS OF IT! He gets this right , he'll go down as one of the greatest, if not the greatest President of all time. If he's wrong , well , there goes the mid terms and '28 for the Repubs and he'll go down as a loudmouth chump, that cost most of the country trillions in retirement $ . He better be right.

You mean to tell me these are the people you are listening to? CNBC/Morgan Stanley BidenomicsYeah… I’d say if they think these tariffs are a bad thing then we are in damn good shape. The economy is more than the stock market. The stock market is one indicator but it doesn’t tell the whole story. I think it’s best we all take Fred’s advice and sit back and see what happens. The “experts” tend to be wrong the vast majority of the time when it comes to anything Trump related. When you see massive lay-offs in the private sector , then it's serious. That's when Powell will step in I think. Trump will either go down in history as the man who fixed the trade deficit or the man who created a worldwide recession. I hope he fixes it. I'd rather lose all the stock money / 401k money I have than live under socialism. Our government has been pushing us further and further down that road....we need a reset even if it's painful during the process.

Just my opinion, but Trump could get a few concessions and declare victory in a Rose Garden speech and this would be over. Powell spooked the market big time today. Like you say, this could go either way

We do alright but I want my kid to have a better future than what we were headed for under Bidenomics. Boomers like to talk a big game but they sure don’t want the fix to have anything to do with them. They broke it, and want to bitch about the medicine we gotta take because of how they voted. If I’m wrong and Trump sends us to the next Great Depression, I’ll be the first to admit I was wrong. My family will eat and have a roof over their head no matter what. But for the first time in my lifetime we got somebody trying to give the American people more opportunity and restore the American dream. I’ll take that gamble.

Like you say, this could go either way Absolutely. But it make take a couple of big players to blink, not just countries like Vietnam . The big bet is will China blink . No mistake, they will blink. We import way more of their garbage than we export to them. Their economy has been tipsy for a while now. They've got lots of problems. Trump can cripple them in just a few years. How the hell did anyone think China was a good investment partner? Our politicians used their burgeoning markets to build China up and ship our jobs and products there for manufacturing. All this to a communist country that is absolutely working against us. Now we have to import damned near everything and are reliant on foreign nations for essentials. Damn that. I hope China crumbles completely. I can do without all that garbage. I'd rather pay more and see Americans doing well than pay for cheap child labor made junk. China has far less leverage than they think they have. If Trump targets the loans other nations took out with China to give China leverage, they won't last long at all. I'm no fan of Trump the man. But Trump the president has given me absolutely no reason to doubt him. He's took a damned bullet for this Country. He's made one good decision after another and he's repeatedly been right. For those reasons, I'll endure the pain and ride the storm out. Can't have a rainbow without the rain.
Character is not developed in moments of temptation and trial. That is when it is intended to be used.

We've talked about needing real change for decades but we haven't had a politician with the guts to actually do it because real change is going to be painful. We are seeing many of the right things being done and it's spooking some of the same people that were calling for change. It seems they were all for the change as long as they didn't experience any of the pain that comes with it. We are likely headed for a big, and much needed, correction. I know it's going to hurt but I also know it's necessary. The current economic trajectory is unsustainable.

Federal property tax on all foreign owned properties, higher rates if you're communist. All sales approved by DOGE.

India, Vietnam, Thailand, other countries have already caved. I figured India would not waste any time at all. The Patels understand business.

It’s been propped up thru free flowing bs monies for years now The FED had been pumping the banks monthly for decades to keep the cheap money flowing thru the economy

India, Vietnam, Thailand, other countries have already caved. I figured India would not waste any time at all. The Patels understand business. Vietnam caving doesn’t mean a thing. They never should have had that 46% retaliatory tariff in the first place. I explained why in the “Trump” thread but it basically boils down to this ChatGPT generated tariff plan runs only off of deficit and doesn’t even consider what tariffs or trade barriers might be in place. No one should be surprised that a country that has 1/4 of our population and an average monthly salary of $600 can’t buy as much stuff from us as we buy from them. I saw the POTUS tweet on discussions with Vietnam and hoping they can go to 0 tariffs. Again, nothing changes. They buy relatively little from us still and go back to selling us the stuff from American brands we convinced to leave China (Nike, Apple, etc). Then once again Trump accomplished nothing but letting himself spin a headline.
