I volunteered to be coach of a little league football team. We were in a very close game last night. Three minutes to go and we are down by 4 points. I’m trying to win the game. Then this idiot parent starts yelling at me. You never throw to my kid. Maybe because your kid can’t catch. Long story short. We win with 20 seconds to go. My advice is to shut the ‘F’ UP unless you wanna coach the team. I was boiling pissed.

Facts are facts and that hurts some folks.

If they wanted to coach they should have

Little league coaching doesn't pay enough for me.

Yep, won a tournament last yr a mom comes over yelling at me crying cause her son did not get to play much. Played in every game just not much cause he was playing bad. Ruined what should have been and was a happy occasion for the other 17 kids and coaches. I found it very selfish. People are crazy

It amazes me to see how some parents act. It seems the younger ages are the worst. I don’t know if it’s because parents of really young kids are just unaccustomed to how sports works or if they still view the kids as the sweetest greatest ever, and don’t yet see any flaws in their children.

The whole thing reminds me that as a parent, I’m probably the least capable of making an accurate assessment of my son’s achievements and ability relative to others on a team.

And like someone else said: if they are so perfect, they should have signed up to coach themselves

Coaching kids is not for the faint of heart. Parents are crazy. It’s the main reason I stopped coaching. I just umpire now to be around sports some. And the pay is decent.

A lot of stuff can be handled by a coach/parent meeting up front. Let them know the expectations. Let them understand that if you think their kid is not as good, they may not play much. Or in your case, they may not get passes thrown to them as much. Sometimes they are better if they know the expectations upfront.

One year I had a SPONSOR FROM HELL. The park where my girls played had used sponsors for the park's income. It started soon after the team meeting. Little SUSIE could not make it to the team photo, but I went ahead and had photo made. ALLHELL broke loss when MOTHER SPONSOR found out about it, and insisted the new photo be made. So park director gave in and we had to make new photo. Not only was it time consuming to get all the girls set up for a new photo but the people that made the photo had to come back . Anyway that was one of many DEMANDS that sponsor made. Towards the end of season, BitchMom complained that LITTLE SUSIE had not had a chance to pitch any. ( the reason was she was terrible) So last game I put her in as pitcher, AFTER SHE WALKED 17 batters the game was run-ruled !! BITCH MOM was so red faced that a fire truck would pale in comparison.

Do like we did in baseball, same situation, and the parent always hollering at the first baseman. “CATCH THE BALL CATCH THE BALL. Throw it to first throw it to first… so we put their kid at 1st (who couldn’t catch) and let her start yelling at her own kid until she figured out he couldn’t

I spent about six years coaching or being an assistant coach for both of my daughters when they played soccer and this was all before they reached 5th grade. It was always fun and I didn't know much about soccer but tried to instill what little I knew about the game. My goal was to show them the importance of being competitive and wanting to win AND to have fun. I was lucky that I always had great parents.

We would play some teams and there would be a dark cloud over the team, the coaches and the parents before the game during warm ups. You could just feel it. That was always a signal to me that the opposing coach and/or parents were going to be a problem. Sad part is you could see it on the kids' faces. Coaches would yell at the kids the entire game or a parent or two would yell at the kids or tell their kid to do something different from that the coach wanted them to do. I've seen them run on the field, argue with the refs, yell at their own coaches, you name it.

Had a big, 250 pound guy yelling at his kids and ours one time. One of our parents, a 100 pound mom put him in his place in front of both groups of parents and told him to shut up, sit down and let the kids play. It was a fantastic thing to witness. The guy folded like a wet blanket and kept his trap shut the rest of the game.

Had a purple-haired dirtneck momma from Brookwood a year or two ago threaten to whip my azz in the parking lot after a game, and I'm pretty sure she could have, too........and I'm not even the coach.

we were trying to get the game finished ahead of a storm rolling in. There is thunder WAY off in the distance and some lightning way off on the horizon. She starts screaming from the stands at the umpires and coaches that we need to end the game NOW (there's like 1 batter left). I was sitting about 10' from her and tried to calm her down and showed her on my phone where I was tracking the storm, and that the lightning was 14 miles away and moving AWAY from us. She didn't appreciate that.

Later than night, the coach posted in our GroupMe chat that he didn't appreciate the parents acting the way they did and that it was unacceptable and would not be tolerated. I made some benign comment and she responded to me and told me "If you've ever got sh!t to say to me, we can meet up out in the parking lot after the next game and settle it there"

And I fully believe she meant it.

Matter of fact....As an adult, I've only had 2 people threaten to whoop my azz.......both were women, and both were from backwoods Brookwood, AL.

I got an email a few days ago from our league commissioner that two coaches got into it on the field. These are 7 year old kids playing. Granted I coach 10 year olds and they are more disciplined. I make it a point to meet the opposing coach before the football game and ask are we gonna play by all the stupid time clock rules or let them play? All say let them play. Anyway had to pull one out with 20 seconds to go yesterday. Won by 4. Beautiful jet sweep pass and we are still unbeaten.

I coached for 14 years. It took exactly one year to learn that you draft parents as much as you draft kids.

I think those parents you speak of are also one of the reasons it is so hard to get and retain good teachers these days. Parents can be downright atrocious and have blinders on when it comes to their own kids.

My dad only stepped in to help coach a couple of games when our main coach was out for some reason way back when I played rec league softball. My dad was totally opposite in approach - he had told Mom that he would not coach a team that my sister or I were on because he would be harder on us than any of the other kids. I totally believe, that, too.

One year I was assistant coach of my son’s baseball team. The night before the “draft” the head coach told me we weren’t going to focus on talent alone. We were going to draft the “all mom” team. All in all it worked out pretty well.

When I closed my studio I went to work for a friend that’s in the sort spics business. We covered 4 states and a lot of leagues along the coast
The amount of money flowing to those ball fields is insane. Emotions are incredible high too. Saw signs at each field warning parents to be on their best behavior. I asked him for sit get that serious. He laughed and said not as bad as it was at one time.
