Got the Gout just in time for the weekend when I finally had some time to hunt. Albert King actually wrote a song about my life. Thanks Albert.

Haven’t heard a bird on our place in a week. Was beautiful this morning and not a gobble or yelp to be heard . I stayed quite this morning and let the owls and crows do all the talking.Nothing.
I’ve never seen birds so unwilling to play. I’m hearing birds most days and often multiples. They will not give any attention to a call however.
Granted I’m hunting clubs that’s worse birds most days, when they hear a common call, they are heading for another direction and standing there gobbling until they call the hen up. Yesterday I called to one on the Roos really hard and headed out to where I knew he was gonna go. I was there and he was coming, only to alter his route by a smoking box call and a melted owl hooter… I was very close but didn’t want to miss

I’ve killed two by doing nothing but scratching in leaves. I missed a third the same way. Haven’t had a bird come to any type of call all season.

Might be my worst season ever. Don't think I could kill a turkey if it was in a pen in my backyard. I've been hunting these places for about 35 years and I've never seen turkeys that just wouldn't gobble like this. I've got cams, I know where they are. If not for the cams, you'd never know they were there. Can't figure it out, but it is what it is

Interesting that you say that. I killed a two-year old this morning that just wouldn’t come. Probably gobbled 100 times, including at my calls, but just wouldn’t come in. Bird that age in that area ought to come on a string. I’m guessing I’m about 15-20 miles from you.

My younger son (12) got his second of the year. 1st was in Illinois youth season and today in Missouri. I got one last week in Illinois and saw another one die. So far 4 birds in 4 days. Hope the streak continues when Missouri opens up in another week.
All have been good birds but the one my son got today was really nice. 25 lbs 1st beard was 11 inches and second was 5 3/4.
Opening week into first week of April seems I could do no wrong . Best season I’ve had in a long time. Been trying to get my 78 yr old brother and his son on one for a week and we haven’t struck a bird. Still plenty of sign, dusting areas in the chufa patches and strutting sign in a couple places . They have gotten quite big time for us.Going to chase them again in the morning and Monday morning . We shall see.
