I ordered a fifty pack multi colored popcorn seed several years ago and save an ear every year to replant the next year. Kids make our house the first stop trick or treating so they can get a bag of cooked colored corn along with a little bag of kernels to cook at home. It’s very satisfying having kids show up an hour before dark so they get some. It’s drought tolerant and plant it the same day as okra.

You’re always at the mercy of Mother Nature. Late February/early March is not to early. I’ve had corn snowed on and it make great. Wait late and get no rain, not good. Plant late and it rains on it 2 weeks straight and it molds on the ear. Planting is a gamble!! Good luck Thanks. I’m not so interested in getting corn production from it. More for the nutrient mining and resulting organic material as part of a diverse mix in a recently cleared area. I’ll have some beans that can climb up the stalks IF either of them can get a foothold before the deer find them.
