one of my inlaws got caught with fentanyl twice, both times he had a stolen pistol. They ended up giving him deferred prosecution. IThis was local, but I doubt auburn is gonna get in a twist about some college kids with beer and a fake ID.

Here's a link to the Macon Co. pretrial Diversion program I mentioned earlier.

https://5thcircuitda.org/pretrial-diversion

Some things to know after my son went through a similar program.
1. Absolutely no alcohol or drugs. Prescribed medicine has to be approved. There will be frequent and random testing.
2. Frequent visits to the officers over the case.
3 Probably will have to have an Interlock Machine installed on the vehicle. That is the machine you have to blow in to start the car and every few minutes after. This is done by a private company and you pay for the installation and then a monthly fee. It was on my son's vehicle for about two years or so.
4. PIA but in the end it keeps their record clear so it was worth it and my son never wants to go through that again. A very valuable lesson was learned.

Pass this on to your friend please.

Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

Ala. Code §28-3A-25 makes both MIP and the use of a fake ID in connection with alcohol misdemeanor offenses. Possible fines and custodial time under §28-3A-25 are discretionary with the trial court and can range from a fine of $50 to not more than $500 and a jail sentence of up to three months.

An additional penalty for a conviction for one of these offenses under §28-3A-25 is a mandatory three- to six-month suspension of the youth’s driver’s license.

This mandatory suspension for a conviction is true even if the conviction occurs in juvenile court or a conviction is avoided by seeking youthful offender status.

The kid didn’t present the id to a law officer. He showed it to the lady at the gate and she flagged it as fake and called the officer over. From what I understand there were probably 100 or so kids that got caught up in this. Macon County will get some free labor it sounds like

When I was in Auburn the city cops were ok. The University cops were a whole other story. Im sure they got so damn tired of dealing with drunk idiot college kids.

It's been awhile since you were there then. Same for me, but they consolidated a number of years back. Now they are just one PD. That came with good and bad. With time though they have worked through the issues, for the most part, and it was a good move.

FYI, that technically is an arrest. He was "arrested" for legal purposes and then allowed to sign his own bond with a Citation.
