Been fortunate to hunt 17 times in AL this spring (Jefferson, Pickens, Greene, Talladega, Clay) and have not been in the game once. Have not heard a bird gobble since 3/27. I've seen several hens, but the toms are silent this year for whatever reason. It's been a weird season.

No acorns means they don't gobble much is what I've heard for years

Had an old hunter tell me that the other day.

I heard more turkeys in AL this morning than my best TX morning ever, and was never even in the game with a single one of them. Lots of gobbling this am.

I’ve had my best season ever. Killed my fourth bird on April 9th. Guided a neighbor on his property this morning and had three gobbling on the roost but they flew down off the property. Thankfully, I’m headed to Kansas first week in May.

I’ve only hunted 4 mornings and have seen 3 birds die. I called the first one in for my brother and then I killed 2 myself. We have killed 5 birds total at my place and after the hot start we decided to lay off of them for a little bit. I am planning to go a few more times and hopefully kill one more.

I have heard 100+ gobbles all 4 mornings I’ve hunted.

We still have henned up gobblers!! Birds gobble 4-5 times on the limb. Fly down gobble 1-2 times. Then nothing the rest of the day. Watched one with 6 hens still earlier this week. We have a bunch of birds, but they just haven’t been talking much.

Strutting here since Christmas. Almost no gobbling since the 2nd day of the season. I got tired of deer hunting them and have only been on the weekends with my grandson. Have hunted every weekend and only heard a few distant gobbles. I've been hunting this place for over 30 years and saw plenty of gobblers during deer season. Chucky totally screwed us by taking away those first 10 days

I’ve got two hens behind the house that have been sitting on their nest for a week. Jumped one off nest on wma that had 17 eggs. Maybe toughest year ever for me so far.

I’ve watched 8 die and chased another one 1/4 mile across a pasture before he came to his senses and realized he could still fly. Watched 6 die in the first week of season, early off the roost. Last week was tough hunting, they’re opening back up a little this week. Hay fields are shin deep in grass around here. I’d rather hear them on the roost early and come back and see if they want to play after their hens have gone shopping after lunch. Hunting dogs too

Y’all been hearing many Chuck Will’s sounding off this season? I don’t think I’ve heard as many this season as I usually do

That was his intent. He was trying to reduce the overall harvest in the State without facing the backlash that he would have faced by simply reducing the limit.

I’m just enjoying the journey. Public land birds are rough I’m currently in Kentucky trying to out smart one. Weather has been terrible here for the most part but man I love the chase. I finally feel like I kind of know what I’m doing. I’m going to Oklahoma with a friend in May. And I’ve decided I’m getting a camper shell for May truck because I just really enjoy hunting em. I don’t have a lease I’m able to hunt them on so I’m strictly public with the exception of a buddy of mine who will let me hunt behind his house some times.
