At what point are they gonna limit HP or speed?
Not suggesting they should, but isn’t this like the 3rd or 4th killed over the past couple of years? NASCAR’s sole purpose for entertainment was speed and they limited that. Can’t imagine they won’t end up doing the same for MLF boats when the entertainment part is supposed to be the fishing and not the ride to the fishing spot. I said the same thing to my boys this morning...go back to 19' boats and 150's. Slow them down 20mph. I don't think it'll happen tho. Put a gps device on them, set a speed limit according to the body of water and conditions - or a standard across the board, deductions based on going over the limit for X amount of seconds w/ a certain threshold for DQ. Wow, a common sense approach! I like it. Hate folks got killed but this is some of the dumbest stuff I’ve read lately, love the way some of y’all “hate big government “ until you want “ big government “, lets make more rules

Smith =Tight corners, Blind 90's, and too many boats and if you combine fog, that's a recipe for disaster. Ceader lake has some similarities. I put in early there one AM and it was too foggy for me to even get on pad so I was idling. I hear a tournament blast off from another ramp and I took my butt back to the ramp until they chilled out. Those guys were running wide open and blind just trusting that GPS. Honestly scared me to death. There are too many tournaments/boats on every lake now. This is becoming way to common nowadays. Also there is a total lack of common sense and courtesy on the water by everyone one now. Prayers for the families of those involved. Just sad. Amen to all of this! I've gotten to the point that if I see a tournament is going on, I turn my butt around and go somewhere else or back to the house. Catching some fish is not worth the aggravation, of some of those crazy fools or getting run over.

And if visibility is limited, they must hold up at the ramp until it's safe! Where are the troopers on the water? Why aren't they involved and watching over these tournaments. They could write a lot of tickets and maybe arrest a couple of them, for dangerous stuff on the water!!!!

Anyone knownif the striper guide was moving and if so at what speed? I would think him moving at any speed could have played into the accident just like the bass boat driver moving at any speed. Crappy situation, fog scares me to death so I just get out of the eay and fish wherever I can at blast off. No tournament is worth any of the things these people have to deal with now The news was stating the bass boat hit the guides boats and there’s pictures of the bass boat with damage from front to rear on the underside of it, so I’d assume at least the bass boat was flying. Haven’t seen much on the guides boat yet

Aldeer is a bastion of self accountability and owning up to ones mistakes. Therefore we should sue MLF for forcing those anglers to fish when conditions are not perfect.
Gimme a break.

That’s a terrible situation. I’ve been keeping a check on it all day. My knee jerk reaction to that was MLF should’ve delayed that start. But the more I thought about it, yeah maybe so but if I was an angler in that tournament I don’t think I’d need the organizers to tell me how to deal with fog on the water. Some common sense should’ve played a roll in this. The problem though is that common sense is becoming an all too infrequent commodity in our society these days. As much as we hate it that is why gov't has to step in sometimes. We shouldn't have to have someone tell us to wear a seatbelt or don't text and drive, but so many people don't have the common sense to know this these days.
Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

Unpopular opinion…
Driving wide ass open in a boat to catch a fish is reckless.
Prayers sent to those who were inured or lost. Agreed. Fog or broad daylight. It’s just crazy. I hate it for everybody involved, including the one who is at fault. I’m sure there’s things they’ll have to live with too.

It's about keeping people safe and if fishermen want to participate in a tournament they have other rules to abide by that are way less important than everyone making it home at the end of the day.

I’ve been in fog delays, clear at ramp at take off and go around corner of lake and hit a wall of fog. Scared to keep going, but also scared to slow down for boats behind you running over you. I now play it safe and base my decisions on the side of caution. Not worth the odds of something like this happening.

We shouldn't have to have someone tell us to wear a seatbelt or don't text and drive, but so many people don't have the common sense to know this these days. Kinda like driving Hwy 65. I see folks bitching about the slow pokes but don’t mention the speed demons. Every time I’ve driven hwy 65 in the last few years, especially since Covid, speeding is a major issue with folks going at least a 100mph. That doesn’t mix well. Need State Troopers out an and about writing tickets. Folks 15 and above over need to be towed and fined heavily. Yes I hate government but also hate what about ME’s worse. Traffic flows well if most everyone drives similar speeds and quit the cutting off bs etc aggressive BS drivers. Just like BASS has restriction or had on HP to keep speeds down. Know a guy and fished with him in a few tournaments, his boat would run around 95-100. Wasn’t fun riding at those speeds to the point I wouldn’t go with him Prayers to all those involved and ones that lost their lives.

Does anyone know exactly where the collision took place and where the tourney starting point was? The took off from the park and the wreck happened somewhere around Millers Flat
I had much rather be tried by twelve than carried to my grave by six!!!!
