I had it bad 20+ years ago, ended up getting bad section of colon removed, maybe 4 inches.

Diverticulosis is Usually inflamed into diverticulitis by something you have eaten.
That food gets caught up in a little pocket in your sigmoid or descending colon and infected.
Gonna need antibiotics if that’s the case Joe. If it gets bad enough like Fred, they remove the offending length of colon.
Good luck buddy hope they get you fixed up!

Stay away from nuts and seeds. That hurts me the most.

My grandmother had it, my mother had it and my son has it. Any food with small sorta hard particles/seeds like strawberries, bananas, etc or chewing up food that turns into small particles like peanuts will set it off in a second. My son has spent days in the hospital with it and aways gas to do IV antibiotics until the infection is gone. IT CAN BE DEADLY! My son has had pockets protrude through his colon wall but they didn't rupture. And he says next time it flares up and lands him in the hospital he'll get his colon sectioned. That's what the gastro surgeon has recommended. Good luck with it but DO get checked out.
Get the F out of the BATFE. The F is guaranteed by the US Constitution. Those other letters are not.

The Dr's at Alabama Colon and Rectal are the best, I see Dr Parker. I have dealt with this on and off since 2012, hadn't had a flare up in about 4 years till last fall. Can probably get some antibiotics and clear it up. Avoid surgery if possible, if you can't only let a specialist like Dr Parker do it. If it is diverticulitis you want get any relief until the antibiotics are started.

Stay away from nuts and seeds. That hurts me the most. This is no longer a general recommendation…high fiber diet and avoid triggers.

I had my surgery done in Stuart Fl where my brother lives, He knew a great surgeon there and I could recover fishing on the beach. Doc let me go home to brothers house because I had a surgeon and nurse there. Second day there (five days post surgery I asked him if I could eat sone chips and a hot dog. He said sure. It damn near killed my ass passing that. I asked him /WTH???? He said I could eat it , didn't;t mention it would hurt like hell.

Had it bad a couple of times. Antibiotics and soft food cleared it up. Lots of red meat or heavily smoked meat seems to bring it on so I limit those portions. If I think I feel it coming on I go to soft foods and lots of fluids. Seems to clear without getting worse. Surgery was recommended but I've been managing without for about 10 years.

My Dr. told me during one of my flair ups that when your gut is sick, your whole body is sick so that is why I felt like a truck ran over me.
Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.
