Who's dealing with this? Had the worst stomach pain i can remember on the left side, kept me up all night and it's not any better now. It's not gas or constipation, I've already self-treated for those and my intestines are presently empty and clean as a whistle.

Consulting Dr Google says I either have diverticular disease or ovarian cyst, I'm leaning towards the first one. Dr has me scheduled for a CAT scan in the morning for an actual diagnosis, in the meantime how do yall deal with the pain and discomfort?

I’ve had diverticuli for years. It finally flared up to diverticulitis last year. Bad pain like you described.
Went to ER not knowing what I had. Treated it with antibiotics and all good since.
If you haven’t, get it diagnosed and treated. It can turn into a bad infection.

I had it bad 20+ years ago, ended up getting bad section of colon removed, maybe 4 inches.

Diverticulosis is Usually inflamed into diverticulitis by something you have eaten.

That food gets caught up in a little pocket in your sigmoid or descending colon and infected.

Gonna need antibiotics if that’s the case Joe. If it gets bad enough like Fred, they remove the offending length of colon.

Good luck buddy hope they get you fixed up!

Hurts more.than anything ive ever experienced. I didnt go to dr for a while , like weeks when i got it first time. Good news is antibiotics will fix it in a few days. If you get diagnosed with it youll know when you're getting it. When i feel it coming on i take a laxative and it goes away pretty quick if you catch early. They tell you not to do that but it works for me. I have not changed diet like they said to

Stay away from nuts and seeds. That hurts me the most.

My grandmother had it, my mother had it and my son has it. Any food with small sorta hard particles/seeds like strawberries, bananas, etc or chewing up food that turns into small particles like peanuts will set it off in a second. My son has spent days in the hospital with it and aways gas to do IV antibiotics until the infection is gone. IT CAN BE DEADLY! My son has had pockets protrude through his colon wall but they didn't rupture. And he says next time it flares up and lands him in the hospital he'll get his colon sectioned. That's what the gastro surgeon has recommended. Good luck with it but DO get checked out.

Had a bad flare up back in July of 19... put me in the hospital for 5 days due to a small perforation in my colon. When the nurse in the ER asked me "on a scale of 1 to 10 what's your pain level". I told her if this pain was anything like childbirth I'm glad I'm not a woman. Wife just rolled her eyes and said it's not that bad. One of our friends also had a bad case and she told my wife it does feel like labor pains. Goto utility ofthe hospital on Tuesday morning and had to go to Tuscaloosa for daughters freshman orientation at UA. Was standing in line at the counter to get lunch and had a pain hit me and it put me on the floor

Had another flare up about 6 months ago and knew exactly what was going on. Dr couldn't get me in for a while so I went on an all liquid diet for a few days and it cleared up.

Don't hesitate to go to the dr... you get a perforated colon and bad chit (no pun intended) can cause some bad juju for you

My mom had surgery for hers. She was in misery before the surgery. She had to go on a soft/liquid diet for like 3 weeks for it all to calm down before she even was eligible for surgery. Once she had the surgery, it was like magic, good as new. I think they cut out 4-6” of diseased colon. Zero problems since and much happier .

The Dr's at Alabama Colon and Rectal are the best, I see Dr Parker. I have dealt with this on and off since 2012, hadn't had a flare up in about 4 years till last fall. Can probably get some antibiotics and clear it up. Avoid surgery if possible, if you can't only let a specialist like Dr Parker do it. If it is diverticulitis you want get any relief until the antibiotics are started.

This is no longer a general recommendation…high fiber diet and avoid triggers.

I had my surgery done in Stuart Fl where my brother lives, He knew a great surgeon there and I could recover fishing on the beach. Doc let me go home to brothers house because I had a surgeon and nurse there. Second day there (five days post surgery I asked him if I could eat sone chips and a hot dog. He said sure. It damn near killed my ass passing that. I asked him /WTH???? He said I could eat it , didn't;t mention it would hurt like hell.

Had it bad a couple of times. Antibiotics and soft food cleared it up. Lots of red meat or heavily smoked meat seems to bring it on so I limit those portions. If I think I feel it coming on I go to soft foods and lots of fluids. Seems to clear without getting worse. Surgery was recommended but I've been managing without for about 10 years.

I started using those equate fiber pills, taking 3 a day. Also take two of the equate stool softeners/day and this works great for me...most of the time. I haven't had an attack in several years but went through some extremely painful episodes before that. I usually wish I was dead, they are so painful.

My Dr. told me during one of my flair ups that when your gut is sick, your whole body is sick so that is why I felt like a truck ran over me.

Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

Yeah thats some painful stuff. Had it flare up a couple times, treated with heavy antibiotics and liquid diet for a couple days. I have found using a couple tablespoons of fiber powder in my coffee every morning helps keep the old stool soft, which is what my dr. said is the key to avoiding flare ups. Nuts, chocolate and seeds make it flare up it seems.

I got it and it sucks in a flare up. Be really careful, I've been in the hospital with a bleed in Pensacola.
