^^^^This is overall the weakest group of QBs in probably the last 10 yrs. The fact that he plays the QB position and ran a 4.37 and nobody picked him up within the first 3 picks, let alone 32 picks, is very telling about what these teams think of him as a passer and decision maker at QB. No team passes on even a remotely decent NFL passing level QB with that kind of speed and measurables. Like I said above, Sanders and Shough will probably both go before Milroe and it's looking like nobody is excited about burning early round picks on anyone other than Ward and Dart. Five or six teams still desperately need QBs and the fact that only two were taken in the first round shows what the teams think of this group of QBs. It'll be interesting to see how far they let this remaining group of three fall before they start picking them up. I'm guessing 2 more will come off the board tonight in rounds 2 and 3. If I was a GM that had to get a QB, my picks would be Shough, Milroe and Sanders in that order. Sanders is a better "QB" than Milroe but he's a silver spoon prima-dona with the potential to be a huge distraction. Milroe is a project but at least he seems to be a good person and is willing to work hard.

A lot of it is about strategy and knowing what the other teams need......If you can lay back and pick up a top tier QB in the second round and use your first round pick to add other weapons then that's a good strategy.......The best QB in NFL history didnt get drafted until I think it was round 8

You're right CNC. All 7 of those teams "desperately needing" a franchise QB just selected other QBs and decided they'd all pass on the "elite top tier QB that just put up a 4.37 forty" in the first round because they felt they could easily pick him up later in the draft. Got it. Just keep making excuses for him. That's easier than admitting you've been wrong all along. By the way, if your theory holds water, why did Ward and Dart go in the first instead of your boy. I guess they are faster, stronger and better athletes than Milroe? Oh they are not? Well maybe they are lesser athletes but significantly better at actually being a QB and playing the position?

Again its a strategy to get the most value you can out of the draft......If we have 5 top tier QB's and we know that number 3,4 and 5 will still be available in the second or third round then we dont have to spend a first round draft pick to get him.....We can add other qualities players to put around him and STILL get a top QB.....Its all a matter of what the other teams need and what will still be available

They didn't go in the first round because they weren't first round picks. Like ever. It's an inexact Science, no doubt. But the case can be made that the NFL scouts do not think that Jalen Milroe is the best, or even the second best quarterback in this class.
I'm not a Milroe hater either. I wish the young man the best in his future career and I hope he proves the scouts completely wrong. But this is just what it is. The simple fact is that he wasn't as coveted by the NFL as many thought and continue to think that he is. If he were, then he would have gone in the first round. If he goes in round 2 ( and should ) there is no shame in that at all. But the draft would have shown that the NFL didn't think he was in the top 2 for the class ( at the least).
The strategy is to fill needs for every team in the draft, and in the early rounds it's for whatever it costs. I guarantee you that they aren't coupon clipping.

Gotta give him credit. CNC does have a perfect record. No Nattys, no heismans, no return for a final year, not a #1 pick, and not even a first round pick. He’s missed on every single prediction he’s ever made on Milroe. It’s poetic justice, for CNC’s love affair with Milroe to have to end like this. Cowyboy, It wasn’t just the tackle box. He forgot the drain plug and he’s still sitting in his boat on the bottom of the lake blowing bubbles. Well stated. The only one wrong more often than CNC is "Bet the farm" Backdoor Cowboy.

Like ABOLT300 said, this is the weakest QB class in many years. Cam Ward would've been the 5th QB off the board in last years draft at best. None of them are a top tier QB, and will take time to develop into a good starter, if they ever do.
Milroe is a long term project at best, just because of his athleticism. The only way he will see the field in his first two years is if the starter gets injured.
Players get picked in the 1st round because teams believe they can contribute from day 1, and that ain't Milroe.

Trust me on this......I used this same strategy to help win numerous Fantasy Football Championships......You have to assess what's out there and what will be available in rounds 2,3,4.......I use to run mock drafts over and over until pretty well knew exactly how the cards were gonna fall.....Just like in Fantasy Football.......unless they are just a generational type talent or fantasy scorer then there's no need to take a QB in the 1st round when you can get the same value in a later round

Teams dont burn first round picks on elite QBs. There's only been 27 QBs taken in the first round in the last 7 years. 6 QBs were taken in the first round in 2024. Hmmmm...................................... There's a reason there were only 2 selected with first round picks this year. Exceptionally weak class and an overall lack of NFL translatable talent at the position.

You're definitely right again CNC. Again, it matters from year to year how many other teams need QB's compared to what's available......Also, just like in Fantasy Drafts some people make bad decisions.....I believe quite a few of those QB's you mentioned getting drafted in the first round over the last 7 years are now being replaced or have never played....The Giants QB comes to mind

If you go back to his sophomore year when it all started about the time he got benched and look at the predictions I actually made then you'll see that I was pretty on the mark with most of it.......I think you'll find the same experts in this conversation saying that he would never even make it as the Alabama QB much less go to the pros......All of my predictions were hinging on him coming back for his senior season and how that would go....I said IF he comes back he'll win the Natty and the Heisman his senior year and MAY even win it in his junior year.....Just like I predicted he became a major candidate for it......I still think he messed up by not coming back for one more season.

I thought you predicted a Natty AND a Heisman last season. With a possible 2nd Heisman this year If he came back. And of course another Natty. It's all good. I'm not hating on Milroe or you. It's just that IMO he devolved without the Saban system. If I recall you also were claiming that with Deboer's offense he would absolutely crush it offensively. Don't get me wrong. I would have loved to have seen him at Auburn. LOL !!!! He was inconsistent IMO as well. He showed signs of greatness at times and then , well.....

I don’t think Bama fans could have stomached him coming back for his senior year. I still think he messed up by not coming back for one more season.

He's gonna end up being a Super Bowl winning quarterback for some team and I predict that when he does abolt300 will still be a hater.....
