10/4, I typically just reach inside the mag well and press the magazine latch and pop em out anyway. I was dry firing it and learned when the gun is fired, it trips the shell latch so it will release a round onto the carrier. After I saw how that worked I was pretty convinced it was supposed to be like that. Took it apart for a good cleaning and oiled up. Hoping I get to shoot it Wednesday.

I knew a guy that was an amazing skeet shooter, who would borrow someone else’s gun and run a course, too. Heck, my best friend goes wing shooting around the world on high$ shoots with brits and others and has never had a fitted shotgun, yet he can hold his own with anyone….because he’s got great hand-eye coordination, pro golfer days. I’m not saying fit isn’t a good thing or that some folks can take advantage of it where others can’t. I’m just saying it’s often an overrated component in getting shot on target, compared to other stuff. It’s always been far more about the nut behind the trigger than any component in front of it. wink

On the topic: I’m interested to shoot one of the 20s and see how it feels vs other stuff. The 12s may be ā€˜inertia’, but they shoot and feel different than Benellis or the Auto 5s, Golds, etc….for sure.

Absolutely . A great , natural shotgunner can take his gun and put on a Dove , Duck or anything that flies shooting clinic and then take a totally different gun and never miss a beat. I've seen a few of those over the years . I was in a Dove field a few years ago with a feller who killed the limit with a A5 Browning went home came back with a 1100 410, killed another limit and neither limit took very many shots.

In other new, I submitted the rebate information yesterday and received an email that my request had been processed and check would arrive in 3-4 weeks. The fine print in the rebate program didn't say anything about Authorized Browning Dealer like the brochure did, just an "in stock" Browning. Well hey, it was in stock when I bought it.

I’m glad they’re honoring the rebate offer for you. I’m glad you let us know either way.

Hopefully your new 16 will run smoothly without a hitch.

I spoke with the friendly folks (and I mean that sincerely, not sarcastically) over at Hunter's Haven in Tupelo. They are an official Browning dealer. The shotgun inventory specialist told me yesterday that they have gotten in 3 of the A5 20 gauges so far, but his waiting list is still *40 customers long* so it will be probably a year or two before he's able to put one on the shelf for anyone to look at, inspect, and feel for heft and balance. I guess people are still having to buy them sight unseen and just hope they like what shows up in the box.

I finally found an Alabama dealer who had gotten an A5 20 in for sale. The gun was spoken for and sold before I got there, but I was allowed to touch the outer cardboard box to feel the extreme rarity of this gun and to know it does, in fact, exist. The dealer opened the hard Browning case and allowed me to peek at the the dark chocolate walnut of the stock (the gun wasn't assembled, obviously). I felt like I was being given a rare chance to glimpse a Gutenberg Bible. Maybe distributors will begin to release these to other Alabama dealers now.

Right. If a fellow is willing to take a chance on a GunBroker purchase from a generic stock photo, many of those are closer to $2,000 + Alabama sales tax + shipping cost + FFL transfer fee. An aspiring A5 owner could be in for $2,100 to $2,200 when it's all said and done.
