Anyone shot the newer A400?
I want to try one, don’t hunt ducks or really need. 3.5””
Chamber.
Wondering if these will cycle dove loads?

Probably not helpful but I shot a good bit on a a300, I liked it better than my Benelli.
Next time I upgrade, I’m going the a400 route.

I have 3 A300s, and all cycle low brass reliably. I would assume the a400 does as well.

I have a400 in both 12 and 20. Both cycle heavy loads and light loads just as easily. Love em both.

Here

I have an A400 20 gauge.
It’ll cycle any load reliably.
Sweetest shooting shotgun I’ve ever owned.

10-4, I’m gonna try and get my paws on one and see how it shoulders.

I don't know if they still make it or not, but I have an A400 Light that I really like for dove hunting. 2 3/4 or 3 inch only, receiver is shorter than the 3 1/2 models. I also have the regular A400 in 12 and 20, all shoot anything you put in them without problems.

I thought I was about the only one with an A400 Light. I have never seen another one. I bought it when they were discontinued and love it for doves. We have 5 A400s (My 12 Light, a 20 and a 12 Upland, a 12 3 1/2 Xtreme Plus and a 12 Xplor) in my family and love every one of them! Cleanest gas gun ever!

The A400 didn’t fit me. Just a big gun. If you’re 6’ and go 200, it’ll prob be just fine. Heard good things about it but it wasn’t the gun for me.

My wife shoots the 20 gauge I have and loves it. One of the models does feel bigger in the hand though. It was more of a duck gun with the oversized “controls” for shooting with gloves

I should’ve clarified it was the 12 gauge. I bet that 20 is a sweet gun.

Well, Cabelas only had the camo 3.5” model.
Good feeling gun, shoulders good for me. Trying to find one of the upland versions to check out.
On another note; that Browning Maxus felt good also.

If you get an A400 be sure to take advantage of the supplied stock shims. Makes a huge difference if the gun fits. Had to drop the comb on my Light and it fits like a glove now and I hit with it much better. The UPLAND version is my favorite.

None of this matter if the gun doesn't fit you.

The A400 comes in a 3" and then there's also the 3.5" version. I've shot all the light Winchester loads except the 980fps 7/8oz. The A300 Outlander wouldn't cycle that one. So I wouldn't expect the A400 to. Actually, I wouldn't expect any auto to cycle that one.

If I were backwards, I'd compare the A300 Ultima to the A400 before purchase.

I too would love to hold and inspect an A400 Upland, but I can't find a dealer in north Alabama or northeast Mississippi who has one of these. More and more I want to support local brick-and-mortar gun stores, but most around here carry cheaper Turkish made brands of shotguns that I've never heard of.

Many say the A400 is excellent, and others say it's too bulky to handle and point well. I would like to see for myself.
