I have 2 Steyr Pro Hunters. Both shoot extremely well but are on the heavy side as compared to a Tikka. The Tikka will shoot just as well. I Just don't like the Tikka stock personally.
Thw Steyr stainless mountain rifle in .308 is my "go to" rifle.

Tikka's are great rifles for the $. They shoot VERY well. My son has a T3 in .308, tack drivin',deer killin' machine. The stocks could be a little better on them. There's some slick aftermarket stocks out there.

I own both guns and you can not go wrong with either one. I like the Steyr for the safety features and the larger clip capacity, but I like the weight of the Tikka for long stalks. Both are tack drivers with Hornady 165 grain BTSP. Tikka offers a higher capacity clip. Don't know how many it'll hold or price.

Just handle both and pick which feels best to you. Both are excellent rifles.Pay attention to the height of the cheek.I think the Steyr may have a higher cheek and give better cheek weld with higher mounted large objective scopes if that is important to you.
Personally I would get the Steyr just because it's harder to find one. I have 50 mm scopes on my Steyrs, and get good cheek weld.

I have no experience with a Steyr but I LOVE my T3 Lite .270.

Shot both of them, steyr is a better built rifle IMO, the tikka seemed "plastic-y" I like a rifle with a little bit of weight though, its all about preference, I don't think you would regret getting either one . Id go shoulder them both and go from there

I've owned both. The Steyr is heavier than the Tikka. I preferred the Tikka because it cost less than the Steyr (even in stainless) and shot just as well if not better. Plus, just easier to carry around. I liked the Steyr, and really wish I hadn't have sold it.
