Sounds like they should have had better control of their dogs. Not condoning the shooting of the dogs, but if you're willing to let your dogs run deer on someone else's property then you best be prepared to deal with the consequences.

If you're gonna run dogs, sounds like you'd better invest in some fencing since the Sheriff's Deputy said there's nothing they could do.

I can tell you one thing though, if someone blocked me in and was holding me against my will, they'd better be ready to defend their position fully because I would take that as a serious threat to my safety for sure.

Getting my popcorn....

But I think there should be a minimum acreage amount to run dogs.

It gets OLD seeing hounds on your property.

They were very lucky that this didnt lead to more violence when they blocked them in.

you still don't shoot the dogs, you confront the owners.

Sounds like it had been a recurring problem for the outta town lease hunters.Just because you live where you hunt don't give you more right to do what you want than the outta town lease holder on the adjoining property.I'm also not condoning the shooting but I can understand their frustration if they have a long drive up a few times a season to deer hunt and everytime its ruined by the neighbors running their dogs all over the property chasing deer.Something had obviously already been said about it and they brushed it off cause it was still happening. Now they deal with the consequences.I love dogs and have had alotta dogs...not hunting dogs..just pets ruin hunts for me.I will never shoot someones dog cause that's just not in me but I know people that will shoot a dog just cause they stepped in dogshiit.Guess these hunters was tired of stepping in dogshiit.

I bet this is not the first time those dogs have been on that property. I also bet there have been confrontations or discussions between the parties in the past. Most likely, the dogs are the only innocent "victims" in this.

Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

I understand the frustration, but there's no way I could kill someone's dog for messing up my deer hunt. Especially one with a collar that you know is someone's pet or hunting dog. It about made me sick watching that video.
Shooting a malnurished stray is another story, but these dogs would be going home a a family and a bowl of dog food. Very sad to me.

You should be charged with trespassing if your dogs are trespassing. You get one warning, the you get charged.

Sounds like shooting dogs is illegal in this state.Just like hunting over bait, trespassing, spotlighting and many other unethical behaviors.Shooting those collared dogs is a chicken shucks way of handling the problem.

it really does get old having your hunts ruined by dogs running deer. It happens to me all the time no matter if im close to the house and its the neighborhood dogs or on my farm and is hunting dogs. I just view them as another predator at that point. If your gonna hunt with dogs you have got to be able to keep them on your property, or dog hunters can continue to experience situations like this. I dont know what it is about deer dogs and deer dog hunters but why are these dog being killed stories only about deer dogs. I dont ever hear stories( although im sure yall have thousands of individual experiences your gonna share) about rabbit dogs, hog dogs, coon dogs bird dogs, duck dogs being killed by neighboring land owners. I think it may have something more to do with dog deer hunters not being reponsible dog owners and trainers. If you cant control your dog it shouldnt be let off a leash.

This is the reason you take it up with the owner of the dogs,NOT the dogs. After reading the article the problem sounds like it could be the sheriff's dept.If he would not do anything about it when the dogs were shot,he probably didn't or wouldn't do anything when the hunters complained. The doghunters association and its members will not rest until this matter is handled in a proper manner.I do not condone the practice of letting your dogs run on others property, but there is a right way and a wrong way to handle ANY situation. If you have problems with dogs on your property and your local law officials will not address the problem contact your local chapter of the doghunters association and tell them what your problem is,they may not can stop it but they might can. Most problem doghunters are probably not members of the doghunters association, but you can bet that they know who they are. This has been a problem and will continue to be a problem. But PLEASE don't shoot a mans dog.

Be safe & have fun

The problem is between men.How can shooting dogs do anything but cause more problems.
