Know a guy who has 1100 acres in high fence...watched a guy throw 9 BEAGLEs over the fence, thru a scope actually....taped it on his phone also... 0 beagles made it out...found where they cut the fence about 1/2 mile down the road in 4 or 5 places...
Bottom line is ...keep your dogs off other peoples land...

Yes, I REALLY think that outlaw dog hunters turn their dogs out on land they do not have permission to hunt. I dont REALLY understand the sarcasm Not what I asked..... Don't let your predetermined decision cloud your reading comprehension! Ill respond to this in minute. I cant post, drink bud light and catch my dogs at the same time.

Let's use this post to spawn 2 more questions: 1) There seems to be an assumption that dog hunters always drink while hunting? Why??? Although I have not dog hunted for deer in a long time.....I can honestly say that I have NEVER seen this be the case. 2) Do stalk/still hunters NOT drink?

Hog, you asked 2 questions and I am answering YES to the first. And many of the claims are that people dump dogs on their land to run the deer back onto theirs......
Do people REALLY think this?

I wonder who got the news involved with this? They are playing on the general public's distaste for animal cruelty.
The Alabama Dog Hunter's association should be careful about pushing this issue. They might just push themselves out of a hobby. It's an attempt to use emotion to persuade action.

You should not have to use ANYTHING to persuade people to enforce the Law. What law was broken? Here the dog owners would be in violation for allowing their dogs to run loose.

Hogwild,
You are just asking for trouble with this one. I have seen people turn out dogs on other people's property (my family's). They don't care which way the dogs push them.
Coosa County was one of the first counties put on the permit system. I am guessing well over 10 years ago. It was that bad there.
Now with that said. I am not saying that the dogs were trained on property lines and hunter directions. But, they were released on private property in which the dog hunters did not have permission to hunt. Trucks and CB's then took care of the rest back then. I guess it is cell phones now.

Hogwild, My personal experience is this. I was in a club in Shelby county and we had a club to our east that dog hunted. There was a creek that seperated the two clubs. During the week the dog hunters were seen coming onto our club through a power line and letting their dogs loose on our side of the creek. Now, I dont know if they had standers out on our property but I assumed they were trying to push deer from our property onto their club. This was an ongoing problem and was never resolved so I got out of the club. So, no, I do not think dogs have the ability to herd deer where they want them to go but that doesn't stop some renegade dog hunters from trying.

I have lots of coyote dogs run through us during season. Doesn't seem to bother our deer one bit. We still kill plenty of big bucks and does.
A friend hunts public land that and is surrounded by rabbit hunters every weekend. Yet they kill all the deer they want(and some big ones) every year.
I guess these Alabama deer are different.

You are misunderstanding my question just like many people are misunderstanding the dog hunting.
There are many people who think that since the dogs ran across their property, the were 'sent' there to run the deer back to the hunters.
It does ABSOLUTELY no good for the dogs to run where the hunters can't go!!!!
I am sure there are some dumb, rogue hunters who dump out on small tracts and try to cut them off. But, in this area AND in my past experience, these people are the exceptions...not the norm! nice post!
I love the rut. The woods are like a bunch of roided up meatheads fighting over a girl.
