I took vacation to hunt the January rut.Well it looks like I missed the peak of the rut and it rained and was hot as a blaze half of the time I was there.Every scrape and rub looked to be at least 2 weeks old.Did anyone else notice an early rut this year?

NO. It hasn't started yet. Look on the bright side. Deer are killed throughout the season. Be thankful you got to go.

The rut is in full swing in central Bullock County. Several mature bucks chasing, scrapes are also being tended regularly. I saw several mature bucks chasing one hot doe at the same time. I only bow hunt so could not quite close the distance for a shot.
Skin that one Pilgrim and I"ll fetch you another.

2 of us saw 16 bucks and killed a 8 and a 12 point over the weekend and I'm still chasing a huge 8pt that I have seen every morning and afternoon in the clear cut but have been unable to get a shot.

It's been pretty bad here as well, not only have I not seen any deer, I havent even seen any sign of deer since the 11th. The deer were eating on the food plots almost daily but now nothing, it's as if the deer have left the area completely.
