100 yards AND out of line of sight. Must meet both requirements. I can think of multiple ways a hunter could legally set this up so that even though they comply with the law their hunt is positively impacted by the feeder. I thought the entire idea was to provide a clear and defined law that would allow land managers the ability to "feed" during the hunting season without having to worry about being ticketed based on a GW's discretion or opinions, which I think makes sense. However, this seems more like a way to legalize baiting, but throw in the 100 yds and out of line of sight just so law makers can argue that it's not intended to allow baiting... Maybe I'm wrong but if passed who wants to bet that all of a sudden there will be hundreds of clubs and landowners that all of a sudden feel the need to "feed" their deer during hunting season to save the deer, birds and other wildlife that would most definitely starve in the harsh winter environment that this state has. I agree the law as it stands is stupid, but this particular law is drafted as a soft intro. to baiting in Alabama. JMO If you ever thought the baiting bill was really about supplemental feeding you started off on the wrong foot.
