The one big parcel of land in southern Giles county WOULD belong to Yekrut. Figures. There are bigger ;eases in the county, they are just broken up more than mine and look smaller. I know of a few that are bigger. I have never known any of the big leases in Giles to ever go unleased before and I don't see it happening. The people and families in them not grew up hunting these places and have never let them go or change hands. They have all been under the same clubs for as long as they have been paper company land, which goes back 25+ years and before I started hunting. Wayne is going to be our best bet for paper company land and I still don't know how many good size tracts go unleased if any. There are big parcels out there that are private and not paper company in all counties. You just have to know who to talk to.

I'd be interested in this also if something good comes up. I'll keep my eyes open for some good spots.

Wayne county is going to be our best bet because it has the most paper company land in big parcels Ain't no turkey in Wayne County pine forest, definitely check Lawerence and Giles and Lincoln. I'm trying everything under the sun to get 1500 acres right outside Fayetteville but I just can't get the guy to give me the go ahead.

Company I lease from is $5 per acre now on new leases. They are slowly creaping up to north Alabama prices.
Turkey population in that county is 1/2 or less than 10 years ago. Spoke with TWRA the other day and they are aware of the problem and it isn't just Wayne either. Pockets in the western part of the county still have decent number of birds. Those days of hearing 15+ birds from one set are over.
Plus, Wayne should be cheaper when you have to deal with all the poaching. IT's terrible and I'm not exagerrating either.
YEKRUT,
I'll keep my eyes and ears open for you guys. If you look at existing clubs, especially in the western part of the county, let me know first. I know some that has lost members over the years due to baiting by club leaders to pump up their egos.

I haven't come up with anything and I have shook a bunch of trees looking for a place in TN. Keep me in mind if any of you come up with something and need some money help with it. I will pay good for a good place and be there to help work anytime you need it. I did get a place that is within a mile of my house yesterday. I have to go with another guy to hunt it, but it is loaded with birds if there is such a thing in my county.

I wouldn't mind getting in on something if anything is found. I will keep my eyes/ears open also.
I had much rather be tried by twelve than carried to my grave by six!!!!
