Hopefully...this proposed season extension is the beginning of the end of dog hunting in Alabama...and that end can`t come soon enough. When I was a very young man, my dad took me dog hunting several times near Silas, AL. After the buckshot was loaded and the "standers",(men of impeccable marksmanship), were set...the moment we all were waiting for came.......turning a pack of filthy, stinking, nasty dogs loose to turn the woods upside down for the next few hours. I clearly remember asking my dad.."how are they gonna get those dogs back, dad?" His answer was as clear then as it is now..."they don`t son."
Jeff`s logic is that he supports all forms of legal hunting. This is why the state must make dog hunting illegal so then he wouldn`t have to support it anymore and the rest of us that pay through the nose for leases won`t have to waste precious ammo blasting strays that run onto adjacent property. Dogs have no sense of boundaries...but their outlaw, mouth breathing owners do and they show time and time again that they have no respect for boundaries. I could care less about extending deer season, but if it`s a means to an end to eradicate the antiquated practice of dog deer hunting...I`m all for it.
