OK, I'm behind the times. I thought Hembree was the mayor down there? He lost in the election or didn't run again? Bob Hembree Jr. did not run again. I have no idea who this power monger biotch is.
I firmly believe that a double gallows should be constructed on the East Lawn of The White House. Politicians who willfully and shamelessly violate their oath to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States of America should be swiftly tried and, upon conviction, publicly hanged at sunup the day after conviction. If multiple convicts are to be hanged they can choose with whom to share the gallows or names shall be drawn from the hangman's hat to be hanged 2 at a time.

Hmmmmmmm. It sounds like a powerful democrat at the federal level is floating a few test balloons on gun confiscation to see what the actual push-back will be.
By "appointing" some small town elected democrats to try this first, the mastermind of this plot stays clean and in the clear.
Maybe if the honorable mayor does a good job she'll get appointed to a federal job. THIS^^^^^ was my very first thought last week when it came out in the Gleam.

I really hate that I live in the PJ of good ole G'ville. I have voiced my opinion to the Advertiser Gleam Fri that this is to much power and that I don't think the city can handle judging by the way they handle the farmers market debacle last year by placing an 80 year old man in jail for selling produce grown out of Marshall Co. Even thought he was in the wrong, they the city, was non tolerant by all accounts that I read. So if they act that way by confiscation of weapons some one will get injured. This, form what I can gather, came from the city clerk attended a meeting in T'town and this is where the idea came from.

Guys, this has nothing to do with Mayor Dollar, she didn't even bring it before the council. It's already a dead issue and will not be passed.

A dumbass city clerk, a mayor that should have stopped it before or even after it was brought up and apparently an overzelous reporter for the gleam, whom didn't report all the facts. This never had a chance in passing.

Other than the obvious deal at hand, I find it very disturbing that the newly elected mayor would let somebody pull her strings to this extent. Smarter than a 5th grader, she is not. This begs to question what other issues she'll just take somebody's ill informed lead and go full steam ahead with. It appears that the voters of Guntersville elected a pretty face (to some, as I don't care for blondes) without a functioning brain cell.

some here had already blamed the mayor, going off half-cocked without knowing all the facts. Calling her a bitch and hoping she was run out of town. Maybe some folks don't need to own guns. Got that right.

Got that right. 1st Amendment is a BITCH ain't it? I have it from a very good source that the mayor pushed this 'idea' from another city professional because she thought it was a good idea. IF she thinks that she should be run out of town. She's way too easily manipulated after being elected in November. Real early to make elementary mistakes and she has 3 years and 10 months left to deal with who knows what kind of issues. Another thing is that I live within the Guntersville PJ and this COULD someday affect me. If you don't live up here maybe you'd be better served to mind politics where you live.......but even then I still have to put up with that 1st Amendment thing from your end. Life's a bitch.

I can assure you that if I was the mayor I would have been throwing a fit with the paper. Demanding that I was allowed in print to state my opposition to it, THE VERY NEXT DAY if I was against it. Then I would have been on every news show in Huntsville telling my side. If she didn't do that she is either for it or simply is in way over her head. My guess is that she has committed political suicide either way.
Lead, follow or get the HELL outa the way!

^^ I was just about to post the same thing FFB.
If your are the Mayor and this gets proposed on YOUR watch then you should be having press conferences and be in front of every microphone and camera letting people know that this aggression will not stand.
If you don't have the leadership skills to do that, then yes, you need to be run out of town by every unruly gun, knife, rock and stick owner in the city and surrounding areas.
Don't let life get in the way of living
