>>>We probably do it because we feel bad about them needing to work in the first place,at least I do.<<<

Yeah, I know what you mean. But she makes more than I do, so gotta keep working at least a few more years.

Public education has all sorts of problems, but my opinion is that the biggest one is certainly not sorry teachers. We have some, but they are really a very small minority. I think all the problems are the result of the eggheads that make the big decisions, both in Washington and Montgomery. Most of these folks are clueless when it comes to the real world, yet they are the ones constantly dreaming up new programs that cause more harm than good. And once a program is finally implemented and the teachers finally figure out how to make it work, then they change it and embrace the next great new thing that comes along.

I could tell endless stories to illustrate this, but I have served my 25 year sentence and repaid my debt to society, so I try to stay out of education arguments.

Now that is a group of people that are under paid for the risk they deal with, and what they "put up with", something teachers do not have to deal with a whole lot. Well I guess they risk getting: cursed at, a paper cut, having to stay late(most likely not required), or maybe getting a sore arse for sitting on it so much. A nurse on the other hand has all those risk and then some, like contracting some kind of disease from taking care of the kids, old folks, middle age folks, drug addicts, gang bangers, and any and everyone ya'll have mentioned, including teachers, and administrators. They don't bitch and whine near as much as some of you folks have, cause ya'll think teachers are Gods gift to earth and deserve 364 days a year off with a million dollar a year salary for what they "put up with"

No one said teachers had the worst job in the world and no one said they have it harder than anyone else, but morons like you who are not even qualified to hold their job want to slam then for having it easy when you really have no idea what it takes to be a teacher.

During the summer, she spends close to half her days at the school. They often have required workshops that take a week, and one summer they had 4. She barely had a day off that summer. She got a small stipend for going; nowhere near her regular salary.

I complain constantly about the time she puts in at the school, and the bad thing is that there isn't a soul in the world who cares. The principal doesn't, parents don't, Supt doesn't, nobody does. I tell her she is crazy to work like that, but she says I just don't understand about the paperwork she has to do.

I'm gonna make her read this thread tonight and hope that will make her mad enough to start coming home at a reasonable hour. Ya'll add some more rants about how sorry all teachers are, and maybe it will help me out here. smile

Mine is a clinic nurse with the ADPH. She's see the kids and their parents....if that's what you can call them. Some are good and try hard but most are Obama votin',gubberment free loaders. She could tell ya'll stories that would make your blood boil. Ya'll carry on.

So, teachers are bad, nurses are good, Doekiller and Bill are geniuses and Brent is good with english problems. Anything else to this thread?

All BS aside, there are good and bad in every profession.....I'm just thankful I don't have to entertain a room full of kids everyday. Kudos to the good ones!

To teach at a high level of excellence, takes extra duty and time. Let me share a story of my wife.

My wife traded her special education teaching job (high school learning disabled and emotionally conflicted English classes, grades 9, 10, and 11) to be a stay at home mom for my boys when they were born. 8 years invested in public school, but she wanted to stay at home. We struggled financially but made it somehow by God's Grace.

Then we decided (with her begging and pleading for us to try it) to home school our children, at the time they were in 1st and 2nd grades at a private school. We went for it in faith because God was leading us to do this.

So now she teaches all subjects in three different grade levels one on one, runs the household, does the vast majority of the cleaning, cooking, shopping...drives the boys to their classes that we do in a co-op program, then to their extracurricular classes (writing class, art, sports)....not to mention being the lead psychologist, administrator, bible counselor and social worker for them while we are foster parents at the same time to an 18 month old little girl. And somehow she does it all in 16 hours for ZERO SALARY, ZERO BENEFITS OF MONETARY NATURE....but she does it with love, grace, pride and compassion and is the "richest" woman I know.

There is also not a harder working woman in education that I know. When school is over for the day, she spends a few hours prepping for the next days ahead. The evenings are spent catching up and keeping organized. She teaches core curriculum throughout the summer for a couple hours a day to keep them on task and advancing above grade level. Right now they are almost 2 grades ahead in several subjects. Not to mention all the time spent in reviewing, and studying the curriculum for the next year each summer. All while running the household.

Our boys are doing great and have a heart for us and for their Lord Jesus. I'm blessed with a wife of gold, just as many of you are.

Now it's clear. Buckshack's child was merely exhibiting behavior learned from his father. Instead of putting his stuff up like he was told, he thought it better to throw it out on his desk for everyone to see.....much like his father does in his white trash looking yard. So you see, kids DO learn at home. The teacher was merely performing an intervention to try and break the viscous cycle of ignorance.....trying to kick the apple away from the tree from which it fell.

The true mark of a man is not how he conducts himself during times of prosperity, but how he conducts himself during times of adversity.

Yep, if you are going to bash the teacher profession make sure your spelling and grammar is correct. Otherwise you confirm you were the dumbass who drew unicorns and Van Halen emblems on your binder while you should have been listening to the overpaid and lazy teacher.
