If they changed it around so stalk hunters lost 10 days but you could hunt them 10 days with dogs how would you feel? Years ago they took 16 days of dog hunting away from us,now they are trying to take ten more days, where will it stop.If this goes thru I will have lost a total of 26 days of hunting with my dogs since I started dog hunting in Alabama. Most people I know that run dogs don't give a sh-- about stalk hunting. I have to call BS on that statement I do not know one dog hunter that does not stalk hunt . I didn't say they didn't stalk hunt I said they don't give a sh-- about it.
Be safe & have fun

I guess I still don't get it. I have been all over the country seeing this same issue, but with a slight twist everywhere I go. Dog hunting is dying everywhere. Why? The numerous bad apples in the group. For some reason it seems more prevalent here than in other states that I have lived or worked in. That may be due to the regulations on tract size or limitations they had on the dog hunters, I don't know.
What I do know is if the good doggers would police the bad ones, it would legitimate their claim that they can handle it themselves. That has yet to be done and I don't see happening either. Danny and folks like him unfortunately seem to be the exception, not the rule when it comes to that group. Unfortunately in almost a decade of handling land leasing in 4 states I can count on 1 hand how many good experiences I have had with doggers and I can't count the bad ones.
That said, you will not see me advocating to close the season or do away with dog hunting. However, I can see the door closing now...

Sitting in a tree is a way to pass the time, and maybe fill the freezer, between going hunting. Most of the dog hunters I know would not go through the trouble and expense, if this is the only way they could hunt. Hope this helps.

[/ quote] Who said anything about sitting in a tree......you ever tried actually stalking up a deer? I know and work with many dog hunters and they must be different than most because they bow hunt, plant food plo ts to SIT on and when dog season is out try to catch the rut in a tree of all things. I have never heard one say they did not like other ways of hunting. Now they do say they love dog hunting but never heard them trash the other forms of hunting they seemed to enjoy.

Some people will hunt other ways, some people dont give a sh-- about stalk hunting. Not everyone is the same. I can agree with that....

I can give you a long list of people that quit hunting when our club fell apart about 3 years ago. Just wondering ....why did your club just fall apart?

It was internal issues. We set aside about 1000 acres out of 4000 acres, that was stalk hunting only. As we let people in the club that were stalk hunters only, ideas of how to run the club differed. Thats it in a "nutshell". It was not due to complaints from adjoining landowners.

Thats it in a "nutshell". It was not due to complaints from adjoining landowners. I can see where that formula would bring about some issues. If I was running a successful dog club there is no way in hell I would start taking in pure stalk hunters and with 4000 acres to run dogs on it sounds like it was a good set up with plenty of land to be able to keep the dogs on most of the time if done right. What county do you hunt in?

So now you do know some. If we wanted to stalk hunt, we'd be stalk hunting already.
