I've posted this pic before, but not the whole story.. this Timber Rattlesnake bit me while turkey hunting in 82 er so while I was trying to get in front of a running and gobbling bird. In open hardwoods. I threw up couple of times right after the hit. Got off with a light, mostly dry, bite. Had minimal swelling and redness. Two days later I entered the "Valley of the Snake" after the same bird. I got nauseated upon entering the flat where I got bit. I left the bird. Couple of days later I was working him and a black snake crawled across my leg. I miss judged the range and at the shot the bird jumped, went back to strutting. It wasn't that far a misjudge either before you smart arses chime in.... A few days later I called him off the roost to 25 steps, centered the bead on his head and fired. I have no idea where the bird went, no dead bird, no run off, mo fly off. Damn ground opened up and Satan took him down. I guess. I quit hunting that spot. A year later I mounted the snake, coiled up, ready to strike. Finished late at night so I put the mounted snake on the TV to dry and went to bed. Several hours later I dreamed "The Snake" crawled down off the TV, came to my bedroom and crawled up on my chest as I slept. In the dream I opened my eyes and the snake bit me in the face. It scared me so bad I woke up. In a sweat. Lights out. Can't see where the damn snake went. Ain't putting my foot down either. Finally jump to the wall switch and cut the lights on. Snake is still on the TV...... I carry him out to the truck, put him on the front seat and LOCK THE DAMN DOORS. Back to be. Sons of Satan, that snake and that gobbler. True story...
I've spent most of the money I've made in my lifetime on hunting and fishing. The rest I just wasted.....
