Some of yalls stories are too good to be lies. the only two times Ive been scared were in the same year. I use to watch a lot of horror movies and after those two times I quit watching them during hunting season and havent had much of a problem again. 1. I was at the camp 1 hour away from any civilation and had hunted all day by myself. I killed a spike that morning and had considered leaving early but since i took vacation and seldom hunt without the kids and was at club all alone I decided to stay. We had a primitive camp and very little cell signal and a old clubhouse with plexiglass windows. A big storm had blown in and the trees started rubbing the tin roof. You could hear the wells squeeking in wind in between howls. I got a little spooked when my gas ran out and I began trying to put a new bottle on for light. As I tried I looked out the hazy window with my flashlight and I thought I saw a hockey mask, I knew it was Jason Vorhees. I immediately shined the light on my gun and machete. The machete seemes inappropiate since Jason killed his victims with one. SO I packed everything in less thann 5 and was loaded and drove 3 hours home. My wife laughed at me all night when I got home and explained why I came home 2 days early. 2. the second story is when I take my wife and 7 year old daughter back with me. They went to outhouse around 9:00pm after we grilled burgers. I was in the process of getting our gear ready for the morning hunt with my 10 year old son when they came back running and screaming that something was after them. They ran over my son and knocked the lantern out of his hand causing immediate darkness and knocking the gear over on me and trampling me. My son began screaming and running behind them leaving me behind. They ran inside and screamed for me to hurry! The shock of hearing them screaming and knocking me down as they ran back past the clubhouse scared the H*ll out of me too! I just froze.... If it had been a bear or something I would have been mauled! lol Come to find out they heard a gas well and thought it was growling at them. Haha...good times. That is what hunting is all about. Sharing memories with those we love.
Luck is where preparation meet opportunity
