Just curious how many guys on here may have had shoulder surgery. Was wanting to know the recovery time y'all experienced. I had my rotator cuff and labrum repaired last Friday and I actually feel better than I thought. I was just wondering how long it takes to get back to 100%

I was at work the next morning with a pain pump. I felt great too, but I didn't feel like I could throw hard or lift heavy for 6-8 months.
The recovery time really depends on exactly what was done. I had three screws inserted to connect my labrum and some bursitis removed. Other folks I know had their bicep detached and couldn't move their arm at all for quite a while.
Been here long enough to go from "bring 'da pain" to " bring 'da pain meds.

I have both of mine operated on. The first was the AC Joint and I was back at work 5 days later but no heavy lifting. The next one was Rotater cuff and AC joint and I was off for 6 weeks and that was a year ago and it still bothers me when I lift heavy objects. Take some advise aand take a pain pill BEFORE therapy and don't wait until you are in severe pain before you take pain meds. Ice is your best friend. Good Luck.

I had my rotator cuff and labrum fixed 9 weeks ago. Also included in the deal was a tear in my biceps and deltoid, a couple of hellacious bone spurs and a displaced scapula. I'm getting pretty good range of motion, but no strength. Appointment Tuesday with Dr. ------- HW--I'm thinking I'll be able to get rid of the sling and start a little strength training. Is this about right at 9 weeks?

Going to see Dr. Cool next Friday. I think my problem is only arthritis, but we'll see. Been hurting for a long time.
Good luck to all you guys!

I had a torn rotator cuff and a big spur repaired the last week of September a few years back. In January, I was doing some light throwing and in February I was throwing batting practice to the High School team. But, with the labrum issues yours will take a little longer.

I've had both rotator cuffs repaired plus a bone spur removed. It took me about 9 months to recover all of my strength. Now, 5 years since the last one, I'm stronger than I ever was

Four weeks out, still in sling and rehab machine. Felt fine 2nd day. Doc says it heals at 10% a month. Had bad tear and two bone spur's. says I can start lifting my fav 12 once drink at 6 weeks. Sleeping in sling sucks. Get a wedge pillow for sleeping.

Dang.. My shoulders been killing me for almost a year now.. I'm 99% sure it's bursitis, after years of coaching baseball, playing drums and now I can do some things without problem, but lifting something like a small cooler or bag of ice over my tailgate is impossible. I keep waiting on it to get better... Anyway to know without spending $200 on an MRI? I can't hardly throw a football with my son without regretting it for hours later.

Experience is the greatest teacher.Take the advice on taking it slow for a little while.I had surgery in 03.I got back in the swing of things too soon and now I need to have surgery again on both shoulders.I am at the point now that shots dont help one bit.Pain meds dont do anything but make me loopey.Doctor Layton in huntsville did my surgery and a fine job of it too.Its my fault for not taking care of myself.

Dude, you need to make an appointment with Dr. Cool. He is the best on this side of town with shoulders and knees. Probably good with other areas too.

My son had two labrum repairs. The first was a 95% and the second was about 50%. It was a LONG recovery and he did PT 5 days a week for months on end. I hope yours goes a thousand times better than ours did. Had to deal with a total ACL surgery during the same time too.
not sure what the best way to handle them is but they shouldnt be on tv and gettn married and raisin kids

Been an ER nurse for a long time, seen ALOT of people come in with a shoulder either out of place or a re-torn labrum or rotator-cuff. I wouldn't recommend getting out and doing anything too hard until your doctor gives you the OK.
Winter is coming..
