Way too many copperheads in a thick area beside the house. Sticker bushes, azaleas, ivy, grown up hillside. I'm thinking chainsaw chaps and heavy leather boots would work to go stomp around and see what I could scare up and then dispatch with reckless abandon. I've got a pair of Stihl kevlar chiansaw chaps...they buckle around the back of the calf so that area may be partly exposed...like an inch or two when cinched up tight.

What say ye?

May only be Kevlar on the front. They are also designed to stop the chain, not stop a sharp object piercing it. I would not trust it. Everybody needs some snake chaps or boots anyway. Go buy you a pair.

I would think they will work but you are leaving the back of your legs exposed.

I think I got the crap bit out of me in 85' right thru a rubber boot.......

chaps and most boots will stop a mid sized copperhead....wouldn't trust either on a good size rattler...

Prolly work for smaller snakes but if you get hit by a 9ft 12in diamondback that weighs 111lbs they won't

I'd take my chance if I were you. The rest of us will comfort your wife with beer after your passing smile

Seriously, I think it would be o'k, but wouldn't like that gap.

I can't see a snake penetrating where a chainsaw blade will stop. But that's me.

I have a push weedeater you can borrow if you'd like. You can reach out there a bit further and it works great.

kevlar usually isn't used to stop sharp objects from direct penetration. My bullet proof vest would stop a 125gr 357mag but wouldn't stop an ice pick.....

I don't know if it will stop a snake or not. That is two totally different designs, though. Snake chaps stop puncture-type attacks. Chainsaw chaps are filled with tiny shreds of fiber that bogs the chain down. All the fibers get into the chain and stop it. Go for it, if you feel froggy.

I would not chance it myself. A great pair of boots even have me worrying when the snakes are crawling. Cheap insurance for something I enjoy.

I just choose to look where I put my feet which seems to save me from snakes, turned ankles, and other problems.

I doubt a snake could penetrate a chainsaw chap. It would have to be a perfect strike.
