I have a tough time aging them in the summer. How old do you think he is? (The one with the split G2s)

Yes, it's a different ballgame trying to judge age in the summer. I won't guess but I'd say they're no doubt, mature. The drop-tine 11 with the two drops under the G3's is CERTAINLY mature.

Agree with this. Good luck getting your hands on that rack

I would guess...based on the depth of the chest between his legs...that he is 5+. If presented with the opportunity, MAKE IT COUNT!!!!

Is your camera malfunctioning during the day/night transition phase,or did you alter the color of the pics to see the horns better??

Based on the last pic, I feel like the bigger one is 5+. The one closer to the camera is 3.

I disagree.. Don't think the brisket is far enough out to be 5.... I say 3 1/2 maybe 4.. Velvet will play alot tricks on age guessing....

six plus, always add a year when aging velvet bucks. That deer is WAY past three years old. Get new glasses...

3 year old. The one in the back of the first pic is 5 maybe 6 years old.

Hard for me to guess the age on a deer over 4 years old. The "Brown its Down" guys around here don't usually let them live long enough for me to see what a mature deer looks like. I will take your word on 6+.

I'll give him a 3. Not many bucks make it past that in this state. He's got the chest, but like what's been said it's hard to judge past 3. I've seen some 2 year olds with racks like that in velvet. He won't look near as impressive once the velvet is gone. Some would say he's not outside the ears so don't shoot????

There your first mistake, looking at a rack to judge age. If that were the case there are 2YO's in the Midwest that look "5".

Also, MANY bucks make it past 3 and some even die of old age. Its hard to judge past 5 IMO, but 1,2,3,even 4 or doable. Whats hard IMO is distinguishing 5 from 6 from 7, etc... Thats what teeth are for, IF your lucky enough to see him in daylight which is unlikely.

I'm sure a bunch of them make it past 3, we just don't see those bucks much any more. I've seen quite a few 2 year old 8s at our club through the years and only a handfull of them ever got shot. I'm guessing most of our bucks die of old age.

Looking at body only (though I did take a looong look at rack) I'd say 4.5 - 5.5 range if had to guess.
