I hunted it a few times over 20 years ago....lots of ducks, never saw a big buck, but they live there. I have zero advice for you, because it's been so long, I don't even remember how to get there.
If you want to always win, never play anyone better than you!

Our place is about 10-15 miles as the crow flies from Panther. The hunting is NOTHING like it used to be. My understanding is pressure and bad management has it shot out. That's not to say there aren't some giants there, because there are, it's just much harder to kill one than it used to be. I say apply and go if you get drawn. If nothing else, it's a great experience and a change in scenery. Chances are VERY high that you'll kill a hog while you're there. You are also very close to Delta National of which the majority is open for everyone without needing to be drawn. Just like any other public area, go as deep as you can. You'll want to be there b/w 12/15-12/30 for the heart of the rut. Hope this helps. Just looked at the photos. I saw several bucks that I know for sure didn't come off Panther, or even the Delta for that matter. Don't let that discourage you, there are some studs there. AND: Stay away from this guy. He hunts south of there a bit...but the good news is, there's at least 5 bucks around. The public land in that area (Panther Swamp NWR, Yazoo NWR, Delta NF, etc) is some of the best public land in the country for taking a mature buck. The soil is fertile, deer numbers are high, there is no shortage of cover, and the draw hunts on some of the places keep pressure down. I would go if you the chance. You might take the buck of a lifetime. Numerous 150"+ bucks killed there annually. A lot of the pictures in that yahoo search are bucks from there, many more were taken on lands very close by. I recognize a few of them.

Best quote in the whole video, "because fact of the matter is, whitetail deer don't want a bunch of people f'in around walking!" Classic entertainment.
