I've hunted this area for 10 years, whic is home to my familys 1200 acre farm and I have never had such a bad season, well ok I killed an 8 point in bow season but other than that I have not seen hardly any deer! I mean it's never been this way anybody else out there the same way? We have managed our farm for 8 years now and never have seen such a drop in sightings and the deer I have on camera are all at night I guess it's some to do with the moon phase.

Well has anyone seen any signs of the rut coming? I've been seeing alot of scrapes and have a few nice ones on cam including a nice 140 plus that's showing up at 3-30 am in one of my spots and 9pm about mile away.

I hunted Lamar on Sun, Seen two bucks and seven does on a food plot at 3:00 pm. The bucks were kinda sparring. small bucks.

Yeah I've got alot of smaller bucks like 2-1/2 year olds sparring but no big guys, and also some of the bucks I have on cam their tarsal glands are black and fluffy and some aren't.

I had three does come out to my greenfield around 16:00hrs and about ten minutes later a good looking buck(8-10 point)came out. Make a long story short, I flat out missed him, around 255 yards, I have killed deer at this distance before. I think it was the shooter and not the weapon, I will be back out there tomorrow. I believe the rut is in full swing here in Southern Marion County.

We have 750acres in North Marion Co. Seeing signs of bucks running but does not willing. Up until this last weekend most activity was at night. We are starting to get day time photos and are seeing bucks cruising during early morning and late evening. But yes .. we too are seeing less deer activity than usual.

Between Christmas and New Year's there was alot of young bucks chasing between Millport and Vernon. Plenty of scrapes but few rubs have been seen on our place. Most of the bucks we've seen are 2.5 yrs/6pts or less. Unusual compared to recent years. Trail cameras show larger bucks in warm weather, but none have been observed during hunting hours this winter. Rutting activity appears as though it is definitely increasing.

Yep, I've seen only young bucks small 8 and 6 following and chasing some does. I'll be on a duck hunt this weekend so maybe the rut will increase by next week, when does everyone see their peek rut around Lamar/Marion, I killed 2 last year the 13th and 17th and the 13th he was cruising and the 17th he was running hard.

The snow tonight should get them moving a bit more. I heard many of our members saying the bucks are being chased. I cannot confirm this. But I shot a Cull this morning and he was a loner......But his tarsal glands were just freshened up....I shot him at 400 yards and a lucky head shot at that....
