I'll have a timber cruisers ass put in jail along with anybody else i catch on it, its at the end of a road private and posted. The only people with any business on it is myself or my family. To be clear, you own this property, right? Or your family are the only ones that have permission to be on it. There's a big difference. If you are hunting another family member or friends land you better check with them before you go crazy about it. Did they cut the chain next to your lock? Was the gate closed back when they left? I have been threatened several times by people while I was working and they were not the landowner. Just a friend or had the land leased. Not everybody is out to get you or steal your stuff.

I can't believe no one has pointed out the obvious yet. Notice what county the olgoat is from........Walker ![grin grin](/forum/images/graemlins/default/grin.gif) People in this county have worked long and hard to build the reputation like that. In some counties if you trespass you might get a ticket from the man in green, but in Walker you get choked to death, tires flattened on your truck and then burned, all while your wife and kids are forced to watch. There's a reason folks drive around Walker Co instead of through it ![wink wink](/forum/images/graemlins/default/wink.gif)
You're only as good as your worst shot-

I agree , if you own it that does up the ante. I've worked with Foresters, timber cruisers and loggers and never seen one cut a land owners lock. That doesn't mean some wouldn't. I've delt with more than my share of trespassers. I have also went to a couples houses and had a chat, most got the message, one didn't and got an invitation to see Judge Grider. olgoat, use your head, calm down, and if you go to their house you better be really calm and careful.

Put a camera up on the road a no flash one. I am and im going to build me some spike strips to put out inside my property on the road where i know where they are at and will move them if i drive in. I would not do this. If someone walks in and steps on them you could be liable.

Don't listen to these guys. If you find out who it is run them down and and kick their ass. And while you're there burn their truck in the driveway. Post pics. 1st im not doing that, I would end up burning my land to the ground I was venting last night. The idea did come from a story though. Guy I went to high school with years ago had this jacked up white jeep Cherokee, well he was out mud riding doing a little drinking something breaks under the front end. He has to leave it overnight. When he comes back the next day the windows are knocked out and its burned to the ground. That's a true story everyone knew the landowner did it but it couldn't be proved.

I own it what makes it so bad is the liability aspect of it. Someone trespasses walks down the road steps in a hole breaks an ankle and you're sued. Depending on how the judge looks at it you can loose everything. If you could have prevented the trespasser from breaking his ankle by filling the hole in they will hold you liable. It sucks That's why you have insurance though

You could get a better gate built with a secured lock that can't be tampered with. Kind of like the National Forest has. They are expensive though!

I kept reading the title of this thread thinking somebody walked in a hole that wasn't theirs.

get you a game camera with a cell card that transmits the picture to your phone or email as soon as it takes the picture. Then call the sheriff or GW . Maybe they can catch them on site.
Two roads diverged in the woods and I took the one with deep ruts, hills and mud.It may be bumpy but WHAT A RIDE!

I believe someone already said it - spikes will result in retaliation. Years ago - one of guys that previously hunted the property that we hunt now decided he was going to "show them". Nobody knows for certain what happened, but he left the gate open (big mistake) one day while he was hunting someone decided to cut the sidewalls on all four of his tires. A few weeks later - he ran over some spike strips that had been laid out for him in a puddle. I can't remember what other mysterious thing happened that year to this fellow, but it I believe it was also auto related.
