I lived it as well. Worst one I have seen growing up here on the gulf.

My luck has been so bad lately, it could be raining pussies and I'd catch one with a dick broke off in it.

Still have issues from Ivan from the house on the bay to the farm all the way up in Dallas County. Never, ever seen such widespread damage. Lot's of hurt, damage and pain with that mother of a storm. That was a violent sucker.
not sure what the best way to handle them is but they shouldnt be on tv and gettn married and raisin kids

I spent 3 days cleaning up downed trees and limbs in my yard up here in Tuscaloosa County from that sucker.

I was living in Pensacola at the time, rode the storm out there. Went 15 days without power and spent months cleaning up. Amazing power with that storm.

The evacuation gridlock on I-65 the day before they opened all lanes northward was surreal...it took me 8 hours to get from Foley to Montgomery!

Remember it well.. Nothing like Opal though in this part of the state. Indeed Opal did more inland damage all the way through the center of the state into Tenn and Georgia. That was also an October storm.

I think it was Ivan that even caused damage up here in north Alabama. We had broke poles and cable on the ground from Etowah County to Lauderdale County.
I firmly believe that a double gallows should be constructed on the East Lawn of The White House. Politicians who willfully and shamelessly violate their oath to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States of America should be swiftly tried and, upon conviction, publicly hanged at sunup the day after conviction. If multiple convicts are to be hanged they can choose with whom to share the gallows or names shall be drawn from the hangman's hat to be hanged 2 at a time.

I remember it, we didn't get it as bad as some folks. We did have to clear a bunch of debris out of roads and the campsite at our Hunting Club in Butler County.

Never dreamed there would be such devastation this far inland. Timber damage was terrible in Monroe Co, especially in the east to west Limestone creek drainage near where I live. I remember walking outside right before daylight and it smelled like a log landing - I knew it was really bad then. We lost alot of timber in that storm. Still cant find some property lines.

Opal was a Thunderstorm compared to Ivan. Opal seemed bad because Erin had come through a Month earlier, and folks were still cleaning up when Opal came through.
