i will never let a still hunter take that away from me. our club averages over 20 bucks a year. It will not be still hunters that do it. It will be dogs hunters that continually use there dogs to hunt other's properties, hunt from public roads and tresspass on peoples property under the excuse they are just looking for thier dogs.

what really needs to be outlawed is corn under a night light!!!! but you never hear any of these still hunters complaining about that. if there is any kind of feed under a night light there should be a fine If someone is shooting deer under a light and over feed I do believe there is already a fine for that.

Come sit on a food plot at blue springs WMA before the dog hunt and then come sit on one after the dog hunt if you dont think dogs bother deer!
Heavenly father, to you I pray, A majestic deer may come my way. Let my aim be straight and true, this my Lord, I pray to you.

I have hunted in colbert county my whole life and most of the dog clubs that i know of do the right thing. But what gets me ticked off is when you have still hunters join a club that they know runs dogs and try to stop them and change the rules and complain about dogs. That club am talking about has ran dogs for years and some of the guys still do but they never should of let the still hunters in. Then you have guys that come in and buy land in between two clubs that runs dogs and complain cause the dogs our on your propety. And dogs bother deer is just and excuse for poor hunting. I have seen dogs run deer in the mornings and in the evening you can see the same deer coming back in after the dogs quit running them. A poor excuse for hunting? are you kidding me , still hunters dont have to have a dog to help them hunt ! just saying!
Heavenly father, to you I pray, A majestic deer may come my way. Let my aim be straight and true, this my Lord, I pray to you.

trying to talk to still hunters is a lost cause... Painting everybody with the same brush is what got dog huntin banned, so I don't think you want to do that. I haven't dog hunted in 20 years, but I used to. After I quit, I paid for a membership to support the dog hunter's assoc each year at the deer show 'til I quit going to it. I don't think you will find another aldeer member who has consistently defended dog hunting rights any more than I have. So all stll hunters are not guilty of not listening to your concerns.

Oh and were I hunt the only thing corn attracts is bears :p

Then you have guys that come in and buy land in between two clubs that runs dogs and complain cause the dogs our on your propety. Just curious: What would you say to the hunter whose family has held the land between these two clubs for the better part of a century - since before the paper companies, going back to when squatters lived on the land in single room board houses, before there was a deer season, and before you were a twinkle in your grandfather's eye? Has that guy been there long enough to complain??

Is that long enough?

I think that the point he is making is this: If that check bought land in the median of I-85........it would be ridiculous to complain about the traffic. Exactly, Or if he bought land that was surrounded by chicken houses would he complain about the smell and try to have them done away with.

I understand those analogies, but I don't think they apply here. Sure, the guy who buys land on the interstate shouldn't complain about the traffic, but surely you don't think he has to let folks leave the interstate and drive through his yard? The guy who builds his house downwind of the chicken houses has no grounds to complain about the stench, but you shouldn't fault him if he wants to install fans and air fresheners on his own property.
There is a distinction to be made between trying to impose your wishes on your neighbor and keeping your neighbor from encroaching on you. My position is that the clubs can run dogs all they want to, as long as they stay on their own land. In fact, nothing would make me happier, because the deer could migrate to my property to find some sanctuary from the dogs.
What I take exception to is for a dog hunter to tell me that he can't keep his dogs off my land, and I'm just going to have to like it or lump it. I don't agree with the logic that "I had my land first", but even if that made sense, then they lose that argument when we trump the dog clubs by six or seven decades.
