A while back I asked for choices on books for my new to me Kindle.I got some good ones to choose from and read a few.I am wanting to go another direction now. What do y'all suggests about the history of our great state. I am mostly interested in Indian history/battles pre antebellum period and the civil war in Alabama and the Alabamians who served in the war. Thanks!

History of a Deep South State ( Can be quite dry and pedantic but a good history)

Most stuff by Harvey Jackson (not a title but recommendation of the author)

Most of the stuff by Rick Bragg is about how damn hard folks had it not even 100 years ago.

If violence is your last resort, you failed to use enough of it at the outset.

Self-defense is a situation that you'd nearly give anything to have avoided...so be ready.

Based upon your interest description, I assume you mean that you are interested in the Creek War of 1813 and 1814. If that is the case, you should read what is perhaps still the best book on the subject, Halbert and Ball's Creek War of 1813 and 1814, originally published in the 1890s. Greg Waselkov's book A Conquering Spirit about the battle of Fort Mims is a great detailed look at one of the early conflicts while providing an excellent overview of the war.

Check out The Dummy Line by Bobby Cole. I liked it. It's about a hunting adventure.
