Anyone who is an NRA member needs to wake up and smell the roses.

The NRA helped write the model laws that require you to get permission from your government to carry a pistol concealed or to carry a pistol either openly or concealed in your vehicle. Alabama adopted those laws almost verbatim back in 1936, and they have never been tested before our Alabama Supreme Court.

The bill that Senator Beason introduced during the 2013 session of our state legislature would have repealed the requirement to have a license to carry a pistol in your vehicle. The NRA parking lot bill was introduced in 2012, and it failed. They insisted on it being crammed into Senator Beason's bill in 2013, and the bill was completely revised before it passed. The NRA endorsed the bill in its final form.

You can thank the NRA for endorsing a 30+ page gun-control bill just to get their parking lot bill passed. They knew all along that companies like Alabama Power were opposed to the bill.

Here's their webpage report from last year:

NRA/ILA parking lot bill fails in 2012 *** click here ***

Notice Alabama Power in their list of companies that were opposed to the bill.

IMO, there are much better gun rights organizations to support. The Second Amendment Foundation, Gun Owners of America and Jews for the Preservation of Firearms Ownership are much more worthy of your support than the two-timers at the NRA.

Take a look at this if you want to know how motivated the NRA was in shoving this through our state legislature at any cost:

Here are two NRA lobbyists that were involved in getting the new gun-control bill shoved through our state legislature in 2013:

NRA lobbyists registered in Alabama Legislature:

Michael Sullivan,
2229 1st Ave. N. Bham, AL 35203
205-241-9607

TREVOR SANTOS
11250 Waples Mill Road
Fairfax, VA 22030
703-267-1250

Why not let them know if you're not happy about what they did?

... and don't forget to contact the NRA President:

NRA President and former Alabama Advisory Board of Conservation member from Bham, AL:

NRA President James Porter *** click here ***

I appreciated his opposition to the buck limit/antler restriction crap affecting our hunting rights, so maybe he will listen to your concerns about our gun rights.
