Got invited to hunt over in Russel county this weekend. Hunted a food plot yesterday afternoon that was completely covered in tracks. Pics had shown 3 bucks including a nice 8 point had been frequenting this field and I had the green light to shoot whatever I saw. I saw a spike with about 6 inch horns but nothing else.

Got back to camp where deer sausage and ribeyes were on the grill. Smoked my pipe, had some Crown Royal Black, and swapped hunting lies back and forth with 3 other exceptionally fine gentleman!

Hunted a acorn bottom this morning. Acorns raining all over me. Hens cackling and yelping at dawn. grin I was about to get down at 9am when right then a BIG doe came in from behind and to my right. She came in stiff legged and stomping. Her nose in the air trying hard to detect where exactly my scent was coming from. She got within 12 yards but it was impossible to stand, draw, and shoot at her. She was on extreme alert and too close. She finally stomped off back in the direction she came. It was enough to get the ole heart pumping! Leaves me wondering why I don't bow hunt more often!
