I don't know how deep your creek is, but did you look close in the water? Creek is only about 1 foot deep, but it does spread out kind of swampy in places. Lots of mucky places will find you waist deep in a hurry. I looked up and down that creek pretty good. I ask because I found one of mine in just enough water where it made you look for it to see it. I could have easily gandered over and said "nothing there." It was under water.
