I have two stands setup that work for tomorrow mornings expected wind direction. One is a ladderstand on a clearcut and the other is a box in some select cut pines. If it blows like it says it will in the morning, what environment would a deer want to be in?

I always like to hunt hardwood bottoms on windy days. Seen a lot of deer movement.

Just curious, although i've killed some good bucks on windy days, why do you say these are the times to get serious? I realize they can't hear you walking, but other than that?

Where did ya learn to cut one up like that I learned through trial and error and stubbornness. I had a negative experience with a processor once and decided to learn to do it all myself. I used to skin deer for the entire camp when I was growing up, 20+ members. Once the ol' boys figured out I was capable, they kept me busy. Ever since I was a little boy I've enjoyed skinning and butchering as much as the hunting and killing. I get immense pleasure in feeding venison to others and changing their perception of what wild game tastes like. Over the years my interest has evolved more into making specialty cuts much like an old time butcher. I'm still learning a lot on that front and I use youtube for a lot of inspiration. Look for instructional videos on lamb processing; There are many more due to their commercial production.

Congrats on the deer. I am really interested in how you cut your deer up. I process my own and have for many years. I debone all mine and am really interested in what you have done. I guess those bone in chops are tederloin and part of a rib? If you get an opportunity I would really appreciate seeing a step by step picture tutorial.

Just curious, although i've killed some good bucks on windy days, why do you say these are the times to get serious? I realize they can't hear you walking, but other than that? Looking back through my observations and kills, 20 mph + NW winds following a precipitation event have resulted in FAR more mature buck kills and sightings than all other variables and conditions combined. The colder and more windy the better. If you can barely hang on to the tree you are in then its a good day.
