chasing down an intermittant starting issue

See if shifting into neutral helps. I put 200k on a 98 XJ that wouldn't start if driven a few miles, shut off, and started back up quickly. Like going to get gas I would always have to shift into neutral.

The NSS is probably dirty.

Bed bobbed 12", 3" lift, FJ 80 tie rod, welded rear, open front. Running gear rebuilt from front to back. Work in progress. Oh, it'll be riding on 9.5 X 16" tractor tires. It'll be painted Massey Fergeson Gray. My new UTV. I'll try to get a pic in a day or two.

I missed a fine stock '80 Toyota 4x4 for sale CL a couple months ago. Would have made a fine build.

I bought this '85 two wheel drive extra cab 2 1/2 years ago for $250 and has been sitting in the barn for the last two years.

Traded it for this '86 4x4 because I wanted the rear end, transmission/transfer case and cross member, steering wheel, clutch & brake pedal assembly, brake booster, steering gear box, exhaust, and drive shafts for another two wheel drive to 4wd build.

I started stripping it down Tuesday and Wednesday. Was to cold Thursday high of 22° so I did not work on it at all. Will not do anything else to it until late next week when it gets above freezing.

Will be turning this '88 Toyota automatic two wheel drive I have had for 5 or 6 years into a five speed straight axle 4wd.

Swampy, gonna be a big project, should be sweet. I guess you know you can put the IFS brakes on the straight axle, you gotta use FJ rotors. You can move the straight axle disc brakes to the rear, you can get the mount brackets on line. Then put a Chevy master cylinder on it and it'll have finest brakes on the road. I plan on doing this to my '86 flatbed , it's an auto trans and could use some more stoppin' power.
