Since the weather is supposed to be nasty Saturday and I haven't hunted in almost two weeks, I decided to leave work a couple hours early and enjoy the beautiful afternoon yesterday. I had hunted this field my last hunt with similar weather conditions and saw some deer slip onto the field just as it was too dark to see. The last three deer on the field that day all had some type of head gear but it was too dark to tell anything about them.
I went back to the same field yesterday afternoon and I was fortunate that this buck came out with plenty of daylight left. Thankfully, I made a great shot and he only ran about 30-40 yards. He's my biggest bodies deer at 192 lbs.
A quick scroll through some trail camera pics and I was confident this was a buck I had on camera last year. Praise God for an awesome afternoon in the woods. Hunting is therapeutic to me, it's so great to get away from the stressors of life for a few hours and enjoy creation. This buck is just icing on the cake to a great afternoon in the woods.

Congratulations, young man; well done.

If violence is your last resort, you failed to use enough of it at the outset.

Self-defense is a situation that you'd nearly give anything to have avoided...so be ready.

Congrats. It's hard to beat the weather conditions we had yesterday for deer hunting in AL. Only thing that would make it better if it was mid January.

Yeah, that was an afternoon to remember. I got in my hut early, and took a nap on the ground. Sat up around 4 and the action started at 4:15 A lot of fun. Had the entire 2800 acres to myself.

By the way, Dad got his check so he's a happy man..... He's been dragging my old lock-ons out of the woods over there. 30 years of hunting that place I had left a few here and there
