I may be missing something, but what is the likelihood that a young buck actually remains on your land? Aren't they pushed out to find their own home territories? So by letting them walk, you are helping your neighbors. Of course this depends on the size of your land.
For the record, I don't shoot young bucks, just trying to understand the thought process. Likewise the ones your neighbors pass will help you on a smaller tract. Lumpy is correct, orphaned buck fawns tend to stay in the general area after momma gets it. Is this true? If so seems like a good management tool to use!
