Got this guy on camera a few days ago.  I've got a question for the biologists and experts on here. Is this a genetic trait or is it usually caused by injuries or something else. I was wondering, because a few years ago, I saw a buck just for a split second that looked like this one except a good bit bigger. This is the first time I've had a pic of this and I just figured the one I saw a few years ago could be this ones daddy? From the pics I figured this one at a 3 year old at best.

We've got a shed from long ago that's about 5 or more inches across the palmation.I don't know whether it's a genetic trait or not, we've never seen or killed another deer with any palmation that would even remotely resemble this shed.
So weird.
99% of the world wipes their ass with it and the barn calls it tradition. Dustin

A deer that scored around 180 was killed last year around Fayette that was palmated like that. It won the big buck contest at woods and water in Tuscaloosa.
