Although I've heard a couple decent stories, I went twice last weekend and had no luck. Haven't seen a deer since January! I will say from sign and stories, seems rut activity is here a little sooner than the past couple years. What say you pike/crenshaw-ians???

Judging from my trail cam pics and what I'm seeing, they aren't. I have seen a few scrapes starting to show up though. My guess is it will be mid January like every year

I have land in both counties , and saw a small buck chasing a doe 2 Sunday's ago in Pike co. I found a fresh scrape on my Highland Home lease wed. but have not hunted that property since early bow season.

I saw alot of scrapes and rubs the first part of November. No scrapes in mid-December.

83% of all statistics are made up.

I've seen a bunch of scrapes. Dad saw a rack buck working a scrape last Sunday afternoon around 4:00. It's obviously a good sign to see that MAYBE the buck limits are hopefully working. We have our own policies, but these stories are good nonetheless.

No sign of rut in north east Pike County. Seeing some scrapes, but always do this time of year.

Figured I'd ask again...We were seeing rack bucks up until Christmas day and then bam, the lull has set in hard. I'm going this weekend and as long as it's not lightening, I'll be on stand. Any rutting activity starting to pick up?

Watched seven does on Saturday. One of them walked around with her tail stuck strait out and acting funny but never saw a buck. Saw a young basket rack on Friday but couldn't tell if he was cruising or what. Hoping this cold weather will kick it in high gear. Good luck.

I saw a spike and a few does last Sunday and they were ignoring each other. I had plans to go some during this cold spell but my son got a stomach virus so I haven't been able to. A guy I work with say a spike push some does around yesterday afternoon. But nothing yet that indicates the rut is any closer than usual (last of the month).

Saw a buck with does in a pasture in Coffee Co this morning. Didn't look like he was chasing, but did have about 4-5 does with him.

Sucks I have to work for a living!

I saw several does and bucks in the same 7 acre field yesterday. They did not seem to pay any attention to each other . 5 of the bucks came out together. This was in pike co. about 3 miles from the Crenshaw line.

I guess the fresh scrapes and rack buck activity was maybe the first little cycle. Like I said the past couple weeks have been slow. It's getting REALLY close to busting open. Would love to hear the stories when chasing/cruising starts.

Went this morning, saw one buck real early. It was still pretty dark but I think it was a fairly young buck. I did see a couple fresh scrapes walking out and several rubs. I haven't personally seen any bucks (young or old) pushing does.

Same as usual, you might as well stay at the house till the third week of Jan. if you want to hunt a rut buck.

Interesting trail cam pictures last night had four mature bucks visit the same food plot. Various times . Almost as if their might b one in heat . Who knows ? They all seemed to be a bit observant of the whole field. Big food plot .according to camera their was a big buck in field majority of the night at various times. Actually from sunset to sun up this morning. Interesting activity I haven't seen all year . Also their is the same group of small bucks that have been coming in there all year and in the pictures they seem nervous. We all know why I think.

We've had a lot of rubs and scrapes show up the past couple weeks as usual for early Jan. Everything looks to be on schedule right now for the rut to kick in the last week of the season. I hunt pike and Crenshaw counties and will be hunting mid-week this week. I will give updates

We had 5 stands hunted this afternoon and zero deer were seen. I did see fresh tracks on the way to my stand. Seems they've been moving midday pretty consistently lately.

My uncle hunted our place in Highland Home this afternoon and had a doe come out into the field at 4:45. At 5:15 at 2.5 year old eight point came into the field. He kinda skirted the field and didn't come within 100 yards of the doe. I'm guessing. He was just checking things out but she wasn't ready yet. One plus is that we don't have that buck on camera. That's a good rut indicator for us when we start seeing new deer. They travel a long way this time of year where we hunt.

A kid killed his first buck today off one of our better plots. 2 yr old 8 point chasing a doe through cutover and eventually into the plot. The buck had been passed on a couple times earlier this season, but for a boys first buck that he says he's going to mount. Pretty good deal. As for me, I got skunked twice and saw 2 does this morning.
