Same thing at Redstone Arsenal. I think there have been <50 deer shot. Only 6 bucks and and a bunch of puppy dog 40 lb does. The deer are there, just not moving during daytime.
As for the deer near Cherokee Ridge, I have a friend that had 40 acres down the hollow from there. His last yr lease I think he saw 6 deer all season. He said the 4 wheeler riding gang down there kept things stirred up all the time and it wasn't worth what he paid for the lease at all.

antlerhunter, I put a nice 100# doe down the second day of gun season on the arsenal. I think once gun season opens on the arsenal the hunting goes to chit. I hunted out there Monday and the area I hunted started out with just me but ended up with nine people on it before I left. I counted at least 15 different vehicles with permits in the windows on my way in and out.

NickC, that's why I rarely hunt there anymore. Too many walkers and pushers hunting and shooting the first thing they see for me to enjoy it. I have hunted there for 14yrs and know almost every tree on the place. I have been 0 times this yr. There are a couple of deer worth it out there though, just mature and hard as heck to hunt.

I sat daylight to dark the past 3 days and have only seen turkeys, no deer. Taking today off.

Its been rough. Im trying a couple new places/ideas so that may be contributing to my lack of sightings but even the plots that I had deer crawling on me during bow season havent produced. I need some does down still to get us through the year so Im going to have to pick some times/places to get them but this is the worst Dec. Lull Ive seen.

I saw three deer total in December and I've got a pretty good place to hunt. October and November, I saw 25-30 total. I think they are on lock down right now. I did see two this morning but they were out of bow range.

Deer are movin jus doin it mid day shot a good 9 pt at 11 45 three days ago n saw a good 2 yr old this mornin at 9 53 when December hits suntimes I won't even get n my stand till 8 30. Deer tend to pattern hunters movent knowing the majority of hunters come out mid day find sum good thick stuff that's pretty close to their thicket and sit 11 to 2 n you'll see deer moving n the 2nd shift

Deer in Alabama don't just go nocturnal state wide. They are moving. I've been seeing them consistently the past two weeks. Mostly right at sunset and between 9 - 11 AM...but everywhere is different.

I talked with the processor in Thomasville and he says they are down 200 deer or so from last year.

My sightings have remained very good, but it is very cyclical from my experience. Some years just suck for a lack of better words.
