To have game cam pics of every buck that lives on 1200 acres? I have been running 12 cameras since august and really beleive I have pictures of all bucks that are on the property is that likely?

I think "lives" on the property is the key to this debate. When bucks go to walking, looking for does, they cover a lot of ground and are seen places they don't normally "live". Then there is the whole he beds on somebody else property but feeds on mine kind of thing.

Not likely.... I did an experiment several years ago... I put two cameras on the same field on totally opposite ends .... If I recall.... I had 7-8 bucks on one camera...roughly the same on the other one.... Only one time did I get the same buck on both cameras.... I look back and wonder how many I missed by not putting a camera in the middle of the field... For reference.... The field is three acres.... approximately 200+/- yards in length....

That's a very interesting thing to do. Interesting results too.

Highly unlikely that you have all the bucks on that big of an area. I'm running 6-7 on around 500 and there were 3-4 mature bucks we had on camera last year and have yet to see one of them this year. I've talked to two of the joining properties and they didn't kill any of them. Even if 2 of them got killed still no pic at all of any of them. One of those deer was a good wide 6pt. I had a couple pics of him before bow season so I figured he was a home deer. Never got another pic until after season closed. I just got a pic of a new younger 6pt this week that I've missed so far. All deer are different and travel differently. I've had bucks on one ridge that I never got a pic of on the other hill side. I've had other bucks that I had on nearly all my cameras. Our main problem is once they get mature we can't hardly get pics at all.

There are always deer you will never see I believe. I may be wrong but that's my thought on the whole thing. But deer will travel long distances I've had buddies have a deer on camera and he be killed several miles away.

I've done the same thing. I have two fields located less than 100 yards from each other and I get totally different bucks on them both. On another property I have three cameras in three fields located 3/4 mile from each other and I get almost 90% of the same bucks in all three fields, sometimes in the same 24 hr period. I too, have gotten different bucks in the same field on different cameras. I do not believe you get them all. Recent research indicates that at best you will get 75% of mature bucks on 1 camera/100 acres on baited sites. Even in fenced populations there are deer that will live and die inside 400 acre enclosures that are never seen or photographed.

Heck no man. No way every buck is going to walk into the same exact 50' area. Every year people talk about killing a big buck that they had no clue was there. No pics, sightings by other members..nothing.

nada, no, not happening.

I say this because when I managed a 600ac high fence I ran a lot of cameras and thousands of photos and still had bucks known not on film and never photographed bucks show up in season...and they damn sure didn't climb the fence. One of the worst was a tame buck I bottle raised, had very few pics of him over several years, all at 11pm, 2am, etc.

plus open range you will have some of yours leave and others cruise in from other places, some miles away.
esp during the peak, late rut stages.

LOL..Mathematical SWAG..., Depending on where you live you probably have about 20 to 30+ deer per square mile. With 1200 acres your dealing with just under 2 miles. Probably slightly heavier doe to buck ratio. At any one time you should have about 20 to 30 bucks on your 1200, plus a few transients. How many different buck pictures do you have?

But its still a SWAG.

10 spikes
4 half racks
2 3 pts
3 4 pts
2 5 pts
6 6pts
2 7pts
7 8pts
1 9PT
1 10PT

38 +_ if my math is right

I doubt you got every one, but mathematically it looks like you got most of them. Impressive herd for 1200 acres, your definitely carrying 30+ per square mile.

What county are you in? If you don't mind me asking.

In October, I got a pic of a big tall 8 point on the edge of a swamp. January 1, that deer was killed on another piece of property we have and he was 4.5 miles away and had crossed the interstate.

I know it can't be possible, but we have only seen 1 deer that I do not have a picture of. I saw that deer before bow season and don't know if he got killed but I do not have a pic of him. Besides that deer every buck that has been seen I have pictures of. Yestersay the guys that hunted saw 11 bucks. I had pics of all of them. Either our deer don't leave or new deer don't come onto the property.

No. We have 30+ cameras on less than 2000 acres and still bag some not on film

Running 3 cams on ~65 acres, two close and another prob 300-400 yards away. I have one single pic of a 10 pt, and one single pic of an old 6-8? pt. Two of the cams were very close (60-80 yds) for awhile. Not even same deer on them... Then there is my local yocal young 4 pnt. He is everywhere!
