I had a 7.3 with right near 300,000 miles that I had sold a while back. It was Still running strong. I believe that was one of the best engines ever built.... The 6.0 however IMO was one of the worst ever built. I would walk away from it very quick.

I guess it all just depends on if the deal is good enough to spend money "bullet proofing" and hoping for no pesky costly repairs.Good luck

Go with the 7.3. You will find a good one if you wait, you will pay for it but worth it. I have a one owner 01 250 that just yesterday turned 80,000 miles and it ain't even broke in yet

From what I understand from a guy that works for Ford, Ford messed up by changing companies that actually builds their motors. I don't know who it was they used but the 7.3 was definitely the best. Then they changed to someone that built the 6.0 and 6.4. Both motors were terrible. Some people that own them will say otherwise but that's probably the people that are stuck with them. Supposedly they are back with the original builder of the 7.3 to now build the 6.7. that is supposed to be a really good motor as well. I have no personal experience with them so this is all just what the man at Long Lewis in Hoover told me.
