Generally has to be at least a 7...unless no one else knows, then I might drop to a 5. Generally can't be a heavyweight either...

"It just depends" ain't much of an answer, but each deer and situation is different.
I killed a real good deer with a bow 2-3 years ago that I prob should have mounted, but for some reason I did a euro on him.

My mounting standards depend on how much he pays me.

I don't have a set score per say. I have 6 shoulder mounts and quite a few euro mounts in my trophy room. I only have 2 shoulder mounts that were killed with a rifle. One was a 140" 8 point the other is a smaller 8 point that my dad actually paid for the mount. I was going to euro mount it but the story behind it is why he wanted it mounted. The other 4 shoulder mounts are bow kills. Any really good buck that I kill will have either a euro or shoulder mount done.

I do my best to only shoot mature bucks....once I kill one (not too often) I ask myself if its worth $555 or $75...then either get a Euro or shoulder...it takes something special to be worth $555 to me now...plus I really like Euro Mounts

I'll shoot any mature deer that comes by. I have 126 eight point with kickers on the wall that I shot 20 years ago. Won't mount anything unless it's better than that.

Well my Dad is a taxidermist so let just say my cost is minimal at best. But with that said, I don't a specific size but usually it depends on the animal and the hunt. I don't shoot small deer, less than 125 so I guess maybe size is a factor. I have only mounted one deer killed with a gun and that was 18 years ago. Mostly bowhunt now, other than an occasional muzzleloader. Still waiting for one with the muzzleloader. I even had Dad mount a doe one year that I finally killed after hunting her 7 years, that one had gotten personal. She had cost me a few shots at good bucks.

I aint mounting another deer unless it is over 186", I ain't got room for another head on the wall and wished I hadn't mounted the ones I have.

How does one keep up with "a" particular doe? Tag in the ear?

I killed one a couple of years that was an eight with an eyeguard drop tine that would've looked good on the wall that I skull mounted, and several others that folks advised me to mount, but to answer your question I don't know, he would have to be big enough that I wouldn't regret parting with the money. I think the drop tine bucks picture is on the how to post pictures thread.

No special requirements.....I just mount what I want to, skull some others and the rest get nailed to the wall in the shed.
