If i run several 10+ rounds through it i will. Once it's sighted in and i feel good about it ill wait till the season is over. I usually don't shoot more than 5 or 6 times during a season.
After cleaning the bore i shoot a fouling shot before i hunt with it.

I run a bore snake through my barrels after I shoot them.

I have an old 742 carbine in 30-06 that I got new in the late 1970s. It is still an old favorite and it is stupid-accurate with the original iron sights. I still use it for close-in hunting on occasion. Like SFC3 said, keep that chamber shiny or you'll start snatching case heads off and jam the next round.

Im gonna bore sight it and get it on paper. Then I might hunt with it.My dad bought it new in 1979 and I put a new scope on it recently. It will be hard to put the bolt acton down tho.

I put oil on the outside of mine after it gets rained on. If I get the gun wet from dew while on the 4 wheeler I put oil on it. I clean the bore after 100 or so shots or when accuracy gets bad. I don't pamper my guns. They look like I've been driving T posts with them but they go bang every time.
If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land. 2 Chronicles 7:14
